I'm so glad this got bumped so I could see it! That white leather jacket is absolutely breathtaking on you Suz. The way you've styled it is so fresh for spring! And that denim military jacket is really special; I don't think I've seen it buttoned up like that. It really looks arty and one-of-a-kind, and perfect for your style.

I think you might find good use for those (let's call them sage) green pants. For one, it's nice to have a non-jean to wear with a denim jacket. You might want to wear them when working at home when the house is still cold, but it's warm outside (oh how I remember wearing turtlenecks until May in my old, cold house). They might be nice on a summer evening when you're up in the mountains on a writer's retreat as they're nicer than gear but still would look perfect in that kind of setting. I think the slouch is good and the price is decent for a trial pair. That sage-y grey green is a great color for you and looks modern at the same time. Okay that's my two cents. I'll send you my bill.

Also, late to the party, but I say keep the sage khakis; they look great on you. I tried them in navy and white and they didn't work out. It's hard to stop looking at both of your jackets (the asymmetrical denim and the white leather). Yes, we don't want you sick, like Max, so please keep wearing the scarf.

Suz, I always love and admire your outfits, I wish we could go shopping together, come to Seattle anytime!. I worry the khakis will stretch with wear and become too slouchy. I felt the side view did not do justice to the great shape you are in. Great way to try a trend (I am going to hit the Gap for some tries at slouch before I invest in premium denim). Just MHO.

PS Have you shopped at Aritzia? They cater to smaller shapes and slimmer sizes.
Suz, first, you look beautiful in all of these outfits. Really love each and every one. I can relate to those pants - I have the same ones. They are very comfortable. Mine aren't quite as slouchy but I do require a belt but my hips filled out that part pretty well. I did walk in them one day and they stretched out quite a lot. This makes me wonder about wearing them in summer as I had hoped would work. For the price, I figure they are a great alternative to BF jeans.

And I really love your denim moto or military style jacket (not sure which it is really). My denim jackets don't get much wear and I think it's because they are too "classic" and I should have gone for something a bit edgier. I did find a black coated denim moto jacket recently for this coming fall/winter and I really do love it's style and fit. Similar to the neckline of your white Danier. But not nearly as cool.

Deborah, thank you for your honesty. I really think they are borderline frump, too...I guess some of us have reservations, based on older iterations of the khaki pant. And as Celia also mentioned, the pocket slant on these is not ideal. I barely "get away" with it. I guess I could consider these a "try out" and see if I need to look for a better fitting model.

I prefer the look of outfit 2 to the one with the button down, which surprised me, partly because I loved the button down on Ingunn, and partly because I generally wear a button down really well. Part of it is the angle of the camera, I suspect - but part of it is the "long body" aspect of the look and my rectangular shape. The white jacket gives me more waist definition.

Mona, the belt came from a consignment shop in Toronto. It's not actually red, but a reddish cognac. Part snakeskin part leather. It was pricey for a consignment purchase and I think is some designer but I don't know who. It had never been worn, either.

Beth Ann, can't wait to see your new pants!

But Karie, Una, glad to know I am not imagining this slouch not showing up as such. I know Diana has also mentioned this. Very strange. It could just be that our eyes are adjusting to a looser fit!

I really like #1 and your white leather jacket, Suz. Did you wear this yesterday? If so, then we were 'denim with white/not warm enough for the weather' twins!
Re the Gap kahkis: I really like them, but I know what you mean about a thin pant. By the time the weather warms up, it's time to reach for shorts. What I sometimes do when it's a little too cool out is slip on a pair of Cuddle Duds (thin long underwear) under my pants. That'll be easy for you to do since you sized up.
And what's up with slouchy pants not looking slouchy in photos - I don't get it either - I took a pic yesterday of me wearing my BF's and they don't look slouchy at all, and they'll fall right down w/o a belt?!? The camera DOES lie!

I understand about the weight for summer and my only experience is other the bf jeans last summer, they were ok to wear. Although they are jeans because the fit is more roomy I could wear them even when my white boot cut jeans seemed too claustrophobic .

I like all of these outfits on you! Beautifully styled and fresh looking. I have serious jacket envy--I love both of these.
I agree that the khaki pants look fabulous on you in these photos. I wouldn't be too concerned about the weather issue, as I think a versatile pair of lightweight khakis is bound to get a fair amount of use, especially for travel. But what would give me pause is that you can't keep them on without a belt. That's the kind of thing I would find uncomfortable. I would be inclined to hold out for a pair that fit better while still providing the slouchy look you're after.
Thank you, everyone! Interesting...some like the fit, and some do not. Well, for $35 (I got them for 30% off the sale price) I can probably afford the experiment of keeping them, and I must say, they're comfortable. And the length is good -- providing they don't shrink. Even then, as Tanya said, I could always turn them into shorts. Or do as Ceit suggests and wear them rolled as clams.

Eliza, I also like the colour. I think it is called olive but you're right -- it's almost like a sage. So it works pretty well with other stuff in the closet.

Ornella, you are too smart for words!! SO right of you. I need to try these pants with what I'd wear them with. DUH!!! I might actually wear them with the leather jacket, believe it or not -- with a T or short sleeve shirt underneath. The jacket breathes surprisingly well. But I probably wouldn't wear them with the denim military jacket, not buttoned up, anyway, and I'd be much more likely to wear them without a jacket at all. I might wear a button down (I do wear those during the time when I'd be reaching for these pants) so I think that's okay. Although this one looks a bit odd to me in the photos - though it's partly the darn angle.

Of course my wardrobe hole for tops now raises its ugly head. If I had the right tops, maybe I could style these pants better.

Krish, thank you for your honesty. I am glad you spoke up. I have some misgivings about the fit of these, too. I actually like the slouch quite a lot, but the pocket placement and angle is peculiar on them (obscured a bit in the photos because I kept putting my hands in the pockets, as I'm prone to do.) I suspect you are right that I could find a better fitting pair, or even a more intentionally-looking slouchy pair. But I also think they'll be part of my "at home" capsule, pretty much. So perfection may not be the goal.

Just pack up the denim jacket and send it to me! I LOVE it! I also love the khakis with the touches of red and crisp white shirt. I can see why you couldn't wait to break out the white leather jacket it looks divine with the striped tees and jeans. The touches of red are the cherries on top. Another set of fabulous outfits from Suz. Marking for later inspiration.

I vote keep the olive khakis! I like the way they fit. You need non-denim casual bottom options for working at home. You whacked it out of the ballpark, Suz! I love all the renditions with the hand me down khakis, and the outfit you're wearing today! I especially adore #2 :)
Suz- These look great on you. On my screen, those khakis read as a rich grey /green color and I love them with the red tones. Now about that white leather jacket, WOW. I love how it adds structure and elegance, yet simultaneously plays nicely with a casual vibe.

If you find the pants uncomfortably big, get them smaller because you really know how to optimize every ounce of their potential. I don't find it easy to wear khakis- the traditional "yellowy" toned colors don't flatter or appeal to me and the front pockets are rarely flattering. I much prefer the color you are wearing.

Thanks for posting, though I now feel I "need" a white leather jacket. I just found my dream stone (grey/taupe) leather scuba jacket after a search of several years. You are starting me on my next quest.

I love the outfit in #1.

I also love khaki pants. I do however hear you about not being sure whether to keep them or not - shopping season does not go hand in hand with the calendar and it is so hard to get in the 'future' mindset. I too have left pieces because I could not judge them properly in the different climate than what I'd wear certain thing in (namely, the red trench coat in recent times).

And of course, you never know whether you'll find better piece of similar sort, so the previous purchase may end up being an orphan.

If you have generous return window and still haven't made up your mind, hang on to these for a while. But, what strikes me are two things: 1) you may need these pants in warm weather if I'm correct, and it can get very warm, like shorts-warm - in such case pants will not be practical; and 2) you've styled them here with colder (non-shorts) weather items, like long sleeve button down and denim jacket. I can't see those being worn when it's warm. If you try the pants with something you might wear in your summer, maybe you'll have a better idea whether they should stay or go.
