Aida, So far I'm not missing a thing! In fact, 33 items (not counting shoes, accessories, outerwear, and athletic clothing) actually feels pretty luxurious and I haven't even touched about a third of the things yet. I am looking forward to swapping out some things come summertime to account for weather and bring in a few different colors, but I haven't once felt deprived. :)

Angie, I hadn't noticed that before, but you're right! My mom painted those cat eyes for me, so they're my favorite artwork.

Your capsule seems to be serving you quite well. The colors in #1 and #5 seem especially suited to you and you look very at home in both outfits! Quite like the light belt with the teal dress in #3, the easy vibe of #4, and I'm all for letting hair be the star as in #2. Are you missing many of your other pieces? The two bolder red items you mentioned further in the comments sound fab

Paula B, Thanks! :)

Joy, Thank you! I did a quick inventory and realized there are 10 items out of the 33 that I haven't even worn yet... it's amazing to realize how much we can do with less. I'm also getting more clothing/style compliments at work than when I was working from my whole closet, so that's been a real lesson for me.

You are doing an excellent job of creating variety from your capsule. I like what Staysfit said. Your capsule seems French in the way you are combining neutrals.

Staysfit, I have 33 pieces in my capsule and I'm planning to go 3 months with it (starting from the official first day of spring), but I'm not including shoes, outerwear, or accessories in the count... so it's sort of a Project 333-Lite. I'm also only using it for work and smart casual; I still dip into the rest of my closet for truly casual/lounge-y stuff, gear, and activity-specific clothing. Thank you for the kind and wise words; that helped click into my mind what I'm aiming for. I want my clothing to be functional, neat, and have some interesting details, but not to distract. I do have a few pieces that may be statements, like my red faux leather jacket (not technically part of the capsule since it's outerwear), and a bold red plaid midi pencil skirt (also not in this capsule), but I think those should play fine with an otherwise low-key wardrobe.

Srah, how many pieces did you include in your capsule? In three weeks, I have seen only a few repeats, and the only reason I know this is because you mentioned it and then by going back to look over the previous weeks posts each week. Your clothing has enough interesting detail, without being overly memorable. You are in harmony with your clothes, and I think that makes everything work. It isn't one particular article of clothing that impresses, you are the impressive one. For example, there isn't a bright red dress with a distinct print. This type of item sits in someone's mind so the next time it's seen, one recalls the exact time and situation when it was last placed in ones view. Neutral color selections are helpful in preventing this, and maybe choosing essential pieces. I'm not saying that statement items would be a problem in a small capsule, but they could be more memorable when repeated, depending on the item.. I am fascinated with capsule wardrobes. Thanks for sharing yours!

Benefits I'm finding from photographing and posting outfits:
1) I notice when an outfit looks a little sparse, and grab jewelry or a scarf or something before I run out the door (occasionally I take the picture before adding that last extra bit, so it may still look bare in the photo).
2) I'm trying not to exactly repeat outfits, even working with a limited capsule palette of clothing (might make an exception for dresses), so that forces me to be a little more creative.
3) I'm starting to notice trends in silhouettes and color schemes that I reach for, which should help me make smarter purchases in the future.

So this was my week:
1. Monday: This is a distinctive top that I'm wearing quite a bit. And you know what? I don't care if people notice I wear the same thing! Frankly, I doubt anyone else cares either. If I manage to wear something out, I'll consider it a victory. I'm finding that gray is a core color for me. Blue isn't usually, but I like how it plays with gray.

2. Tuesday: Another simple black & white outfit (maybe I'm okay letting my hair be the single pop of color sometimes). I'm loving that we got a cool week, so I could keep pulling out my boots. Next week is supposed to be high 80s/low 90s (about a 30 degree jump from this week), so.... yeah.

3. Wednesday: I was leading a meeting today, so I wanted something easy and comfortable that looked pulled together. This is my other MM LaFleur dress, which fit the bill. It's a fuller skirt than I usually gravitate to, but I love the teal.

4. Thursday: Oh, hey again, favoritest gray skinnies. I'm going to be up to 30 wears by the time I switch capsules at the beginning of summer, at this rate. Maybe I should use a couple of the other pants/skirts in my capsule that I haven't touched yet...

5. Friday: Mostly the same outfit as the previous Wednesday, but with different boots and a much-loved semi-post-apocalyptic olive scarf (and none of my coworkers saw it the first time anyway, and probably wouldn't have cared if they did).

I'm going to need to start thinking harder about outfits going forward, if I want to avoid repeating exactly, but that's part of the fun and challenge of a capsule, right?
