I'm a bit late to check the remaining comments properly, sorry, another hectic weekend home alone with the kid, DH is abroad.

@dianthus, thank you!

@Aida, you are right, I do have ivory blouse, but it's short sleeved so I had automatically dismissed it for the fear of being cold in it. I do need to think about warmth as well, but tweed jacket actually has enough wool content to cover that. Thanks for another brilliant idea!
(Funny, I did not worry about being cold for #2 with short sleeved tee under that jacket. Mind boggles.)

Re. #1, you are right, OF COURSE, I'll add something bright next time. You've really educated me about brightening my outfits!

@Suz, thank you - I can't wait to see your photos too.

Oh, Ornella, you are just SO lovely here. I adore your new hair.

And thank you so much for this jacket challenge! I wanted to let you know that I have done it, too, and will also have pics to share and show, but not until mid-week next week, because I am going to be away at my mother's until then. I, too, have found this week highly educational. More as soon as I can.

As for your outfits, you already know what I think of #2. Gorgeous! As for #1, I love you in the turtleneck but see what Aida is saying about the tan belt. #3 is so sweet...and I can see that jacket going well with jeans, too. And as for #4, you look sparkling! Or should I say spotty? CUTE hose!!!

Thank you again, and I will do my best to join you in scarves week, too!

PS I am glad you allowed yourself scarves. Giving up scarves would be a bit much. Really.

Nicely done Ornella! #2 and #4 are my favorites, but #1 and #3 look great too.

For #3, how about a silk blouse and a long necklace to get the soft pairing you were after? (I feel like you have a silk blouse, in ivory I think?) I really like the partially tonal gray with peeks of purple going on there For #1, I can't see the tan that's in the jacket from the photo, so I want to see another light element somewhere (maybe pearl earrings, a gold pendant, or a light brooch). Right now my eyes go straight to the belt.

I plan to borrow #1 next week when I am on the road.

Great use of jackets Ornella. I think #2 is very ladylike and the boots just toughen it up a bit. I love the lavender/purple scarf with the jacket in #3 and the chanelesque jacket in one with the t-neck looks great. Casual but dressy at the same time.

@Jonesy, krishnidoux, Janet, thank you.

@QM, scarves can go lower at office. In #3 I'm wearing turtleneck underneath though and we also have such terrible air-conditioning in the office that scarves that high are a necessity as I get terribly cold if my neck in particular is uncovered.

@H, these hose are last year's purchase. Let's hope I'm your Secret Santa and I'll search for one like these for you too. The hair is last week's news and I'm delighted you approve :)

@Lisa, I also see nothing wrong in jacket + scarf. What I wanted was to see if I can stretch my styling muscle beyond that too

First, you have a great collection of jackets. I like them all. And I see nothing wrong with a blazer + scarf formula. I use this all the time in cooler months myself. It's usually that, or a turtleneck with my blazers. I tend to wear sweaters when I want my neck to be bare.

this is one of my favorite Ornella collections. LOVE #2... hands down my favorite... followed very closely by #4.. adding the dotty hose shot the style factor of that outfit through the roof.

There is a part of me that would like to see the scarves in 3 and 4 tied a bit lower to open up your neckline area and give the outfits a bit more of a relaxed look. Or would that be a nogo for your work environment?

I am still baffled with such nice reception of #2, so thanks again. Just goes to show there's still a lot more to learn - which is great :)

@Amy, this is how I often wear scarves over jackets, I like the Euro knot very much, but the way I'm wearing it in #3 is a bit tidier and stays in place, especially if the scarf is a bit bulky but soft like mine is. Btw, I plan to do the scarves week next, I'll do the same as with jackets - as different styles as possible and work from there.

@Angie, thanks, you always leave me with a huge grin and warm fuzzies.

Ornella, you look great in all of these, but my favorites are #2 and #4. The proportions and colors are perfect in those! You've also got the scarf+jacket formula worked out to perfection. I was tempted to try that with my jackets this week, but didn't know how to arrange the scarves so I didn't end up looking a mess. You did it just right!

Congrats on such a great week. I hope you husband feels better soon.

Thanks Astrid, that scarf from #3 is from Galeria Kaufhof at Alexanderplatz :)

Great week! You look fab in all of them, but I especially like #4 and the scarf in #3 is just lovely. The bit of color and the patterned hose is just to die for.

It's the same for me when it comes to jackets over dresses (and skirts), I really have to take care that they aren't too long. When I try on jackets in the store that's often the case and I really feel like I look frumpy when they're longer than my hipbone.

@lyn67, thanks. And, well said - casual dressing on the smart side! I love that. I believe you can get a lot of the jackets you already have without going for the new ones - that's my experience at least. YLF always helps me reinvent the new ways of styling something.

Just warning: all this thread landed in my favourites:-))
-all these are so beautiful outfits!
Previous YLF I have worn so much jackets, but actually all with bootcut bottoms(almost simillar with what you show in nr 1 and nr3). For me, the YLF change meant at first changing to a more casual dressing(but on the smart side) and wearring skirts - so went for some cardies since then.
Now, I am inspired from you and some of other girls posting here to go revise my thoughts, and see what can I do with my still have jackets, or buy new ones???

Fashion is fun and creative! Not boring at all!!:-))

As mentioned here, the plan was to focus on my jackets for a week. All as different in style, color or fabrics as possible, to give me more food for thought. To start with, I had vague ideas how to wear some, but not all of them and it seemed a bit challenging, which is also one of the reasons I stick to the themes approach - I don't give myself easy way out and if I can't think of a way to wear something, then it should leave the wardrobe and not torment me any more.

Monday: Chanel-style jacket in navy with hints of white and beige, with navy turtleneck and dark denim belted with tan belt (the color is picked up from the jacket).

Tuesday: The outfit has already been discussed separately here because it bugged me, but it turned to be a winner with you. Thanks for equipping me with valuable new ideas how to style it.
Wearing: light olive casual zipper collared jacket with 4 pockets, grey animal print tee with black spots, black pencil skirt, short silver-ish necklace, stripey hose, boots with metal detailing.

Wednesday: To scarf or not to scarf? I so wanted to pair roughness of the tweed jacket with something soft and silky, but I own nothing suitable, so I succombed to the flop-proof formula of scarfing. But, there's some daytime sparkle on offer :)

Thursday: First outing of the cropped burgundy denim jacket with 3/4 sleeves. Wearing it with LBD, spotty-ish scarf and spotty hose.

Friday's plan was to wear classic black blazer any way but as part of Chanel formula because I've done that many times. However, I'm at home with DS who's got ear infection so it's just loungewear today. And no photo :)

What I've learnt this week: jackets over dresses work for me only if they hit my hipbone, longer than that is a sure road to frump. And, I should simply not fuss but enjoy my jackets with scarves because it simply works.

Thanks for your time. Suggestions for improvements are always welcome.
