Great outfits, both of them. I especially like the plaid shirt in the second one.

I like both of these looks. I don't wear long necklaces so I can't offer any advice about how to wear them. I like the way they look in your pics.

I like these variations ! As always, creative and merry. No idea about the necklace/collar thing, sorry (I only wear short necklaces and always on the skin). But I think that the culprit can actually be the soft collar.

Oh, that makes sense now about the plaid shirt. You're right - maybe a lighter necklace would work, but then it might not show up against the pattern. I wear necklaces almost every day so I don't notice the metal anymore, however, I find them really annoying when my hair is at a certain length where it catches in the links. Short hair isn't a problem and longer hair isn't a problem but there's a certain length that catches constantly.

Smart idea to put a silk shirt together with the striped tee! And I was here when you all got the Spiegal moto in the forum, so nice to see you still have it and wear it I don't think the plaid shirt is dark, but in any case, dark is nice with light jeans.

Sara, I didn't love in #1 how the necklace makes a narrow vertical line that cuts across the other two necklines. You may be right though and it might have been too wide under the collar. In any case it wouldn't stay at all. The shirt in #2 is a soft viscose so not as stiff as a regular cotton flannel, and the necklace is quite heavy, so although it stayed under the collar more or less it was definitely pulling it up a bit and I had to adjust it a lot. A lightweight necklace (like a chain with pendant) would probably stay just fine.

Another reason I was hoping to be able to stick the necklaces under collars is because I don't love feeling the metal against the back of my neck, especially when it's cold out! But maybe that's another jewelry thing that I'll have to get used to again... I really haven't worn my necklaces for the last couple of years...

I both of these outfits - the lighter bottom half looks fine to me in #2. I think because your shirt has lighter stripes so it doesn't look incongruous.

The necklace looks good as you have it with #1. Under the collar seems like it would be very wide? I wear necklaces with plaid tops such as #2 and they stay under the collar so I'm not sure what was happening with that one. In the photo it looks fun and I love the layered necklace look.

These are both winners in my book, Diana. And I don't mind the dark/light in outfit two at all, I think it looks great. Love the addition of the jewellery in both looks as well (no advice on the necklaces, sorry).

Here are a couple of takes on last Friday's ensemble. I got a long overdue haircut as you can see.

1-3: today's outfit. I am not really a fan of the super casual shirt-worn-as-jacket look so I substituted my sheer black silk blouse for a dressier take. Layered over a grey&black striped tee and faded black cropped straight jeans. The boots are new, and are the same gold-toe Born boots that Jenn has. I chose a gold necklace to match the boots. For outdoors, I added my Spiegel lemming jacket and a handknit teal shawl/scarf.
(Rory Beca blouse, Caslon tee, KUT jeans, Born boots, Spiegel jacket, handknit scarf, ??? necklace, and Longchamp bag.)

4-5: plaid shirt and bling, no layers. I wore this to go shopping and I didn't want to have the extra layers to take on and off in the fitting rooms. Paired with my Gap summer flares and gold oxfords - I'm not sure that the dark top half + light bottom half really works all that well. Maybe I should have bookended with dark shoes. What do you think?
(Lucky shirt, ??? necklace, Gap jeans, TUMI bag, Born oxfords.)

As an aside, I seem to have forgotten how to wear necklaces.... Specifically both of these did not want to stay under the soft collars of my shirts. Is there a trick to this that I have forgotten or is this something that only works with stiffer collars (which I mostly do not wear)?
