Thank you all for your comments. I think I'm going to keep the Levi's as is and wear them with flats when I volunteer since I think I have enough crop blue denim right now.

Brooklyn, you're right, the red sweater outfit is a bit 70's and I like it too. I'm also really liking the pink & olive combo, I have a pink t-shirt I'm going to try next.

Delurked, Leopard is my favorite print.

Sterling, I have compared my old cashmere quality to the current JCrew ,and other cashmere, quality. My old cashmere wins but I don't know if it is a fair apples to apples comparison. This particular sweater was a very expensive sweater that I bought end of season and on a ridiculous sale. So it started at a much higher retail price, not that price always means it's better quality.

RobinF, olive is tough for me too. YLF is full of great inspiration. Hope to see your olive soon.

Joy, thanks for the reminder about nude hose. I should pick up a pair just in case.

Lisa & shedev, I also liked the red cardigan and am going to try it with white denim next time.

LisaP, 'twisted preppy' is my life!!! I love it and I'm adding it as a style moniker. I gave up on jewelry for a long time because I just don't ever get it quite right. By the time I figure out everything else in my outfit I'm too exhausted.

Angie, I have a pair of Paige Hidden Hills that I could try with the pink sweater. Thanks for the tip on stripes, I'll keep my eyes open for low contrast. You missed Ginger photo bombing my olive jacket outfit.

Maneera, red is one of my happy colors, my SO even commented on it.

Two lovely outfits, Colette. I think you look FANTASTIC in red! I also like your outfit a lot better than the Pinterest inspiration....it's like you took it to a whole new level. Fabulous!

You look stunning in fire engine red, Colette. That cardi will look fab with skirts too. I love the way you layered the necklaces.

And what Shevia soda about the jeans. Hack them to create a trendier look, if you want to save them.

To my eye, the cabled cropped pullover would be better paired with relaxed jeans, or fitted bell bottom jeans.

Try a LOW contrast stripe to break yourself in with stripes.

You are VERY pretty. I miss your doggies.

I think both outfits are great - and all I'd do with the red Pinterest Fail outfit (lol - and it is NOT a fail) is to shorten the jeans and take off the peace sign pendant. It's a 60's reference, while the skinny scarf and the belt buckle are more 70's. You'd get a slighter cleaner look up top without that one piece. And I want that peace sign pendant myself

And of course I love olive and pink - it's such a twisted preppy look

I don't see any fails here, everything looks fresh and new, even though the pieces are "old." I think it's because of the style of the jeans/bottoms and the fun footwear. And red is a stunning color on you.

I definitely think you updated the red sweater but agree that the length of the jean is a little off. I can sure see why you wanted to wear those booties though! Love the pink and olive combo. I have never been an olive lover because I have a hard time knowing what to wear with it but I have gotten so many good ideas here on YLF!

Love, love, love. Both outfits are a "10" in my opinion.

I do have a question though. You noted that your cashmere was old. Have you perchance compared your older cashmere quality to the new J Crew cashmeres? Were the new J Crew cashmeres of lesser quality?

I especially like #6. I also wouldn't have thought of olive and pink, but I like it. The bag is divine. and you have a nice pop of leopard I've seen in your outfits.

I do like the way you have updated the cardi in outfit 1. I am seeing that look in a lot of knitwear here. Bit 70s. I agree with Shevia about the length of the jeans. And pink and olive is just brilliant. I never would have thought of that. Looks fab.

shevia, yes, it's more than OK. I'm interested in ALL comments. Thank you. I knew the jeans were too short but I wanted to wear them with my animal booties anyway. And I'm going to experiment layering the pink sweater over a longer shirt and try different jeans.

Firecracker, I just noticed the bag and booties share the same name too. Interesting because they are two of my favorite purchases from last fall. I was hesitant to wear them together at first because they are two animal prints, but I got over it.

Wow, both outfits are fab! Very creative and chic way to wear the red cardi. I really like both pairs of jeans on you, too. Nice way to dress warmly yet Spring-like!

eta: I like the way your bag matches your leopard booties (both called "Brahmin"!)

The red looks great on you and the pink and olive combination is always good. A few tweaks - you might want to chop the first jeans to make them cropped or wear them with flats - at this length and with the raw hem I think they need to be shorter or longer. I do think a longer top would work better with your jeans, but not to camouflage your gorgeous curves but because in general jeans look better with longer tops. The combination here might work great with a skirt. I seem to be in some sort of advice mode - hope that's ok. You look fantastic in any case.

It’s still cold outside and I’m freezing so I’m wearing sweaters. And I’m trying to wear what I already own, especially the really old stuff that I still like, but has been untouched for way too long.

Today’s outfit was originally supposed to be inspired by Pinterest but I pretty much ditched the whole thing because I just can’t do stripes although I love them. I tried. And I have the wrong style white jeans and don't own red shoes. But I liked the way red looked with a neutral trench so I just did that. While this outfit is a 'Pinterest Fail', do you think I managed to update the look of the cardigan?

Most everything I’m wearing is very, very old so no finds are available:
Trench-Nine West
Cardigan-Belford for Sak's. It's a soft, thick silk knit. I cut off the belt loops and used the belt as a scarf thing.
Belt-Black with gold studs from Lord & Taylor a few years ago.
Jeans-old Levi’s that I wore once. I let the hems down a few months ago and have worn them several times since.
Booties-SE

Yesterday’s Outfit
A few different inspirations in this outfit; LisaP’s fab new olive jacket and some looks from JCrew that I thought were interesting. This pink sweater is a thick, soft, and warm cashmere that I’ve had for years but could never figure out how to wear. I saw a very similar sweater at JCrew and a pink and olive color pairing. I pulled out these peep toe, cut out booties because I felt like I’m the only one still wearing socks and boots. Bad decision, my feet were freezing. And I think these jeans are best with tops and jackets a bit longer that help camouflage my curves.

More old stuff:
Jacket-No label
Sweater-Sak’s label (similar to the JCrew in finds)
Jeans-Paige
Booties-Hinge from a few years ago.
Purse in both-Brahmin
Late additions that didn't make the pictures: when I was shopping I fell in love with a scarf, bought it and tied it on my purse. I plan on wearing it as a neck scarf too. (And, letting my SO borrow it because it's actually a pocket square.) Also, I didn’t wear a belt so I had to buy one because my pants were falling down and annoying the heck out of me.

Your comments and suggests are always appreciated.
