Black boots might have been better, but I don't think these look bad at all. Having black boots will be good with your dark hair. Bookending was a concept I'd never heard of, and it really does make an outfit look cohesive. I'm such a sucker for this shade even though it's hard to work with. If I swapped in different tights -- navy or eggplant or burgundy -- they'd probably look fine. But these tights are warmer. ;)</p> <p>Also, part of the reason I'm trying this today is to decide whether I should add a pair of black knee-high boots. My old pair quit a couple years ago, and I've been on the fence about replacing. I could actually duplicate this pair in black for pretty cheap. Now, brown does go with black, and grey goes with black, and they all go together because they're all neutrals and etcetera....</p> <p>But I think you're into something. Probably the cozy factor. I wore this black dress as a sleeveless dress when it was warmer, today I'm going to layer it with a merino turtleneck. </p> <p>Personally, I don't think the color of these boots is working. The grey is too warm to wear with black. If I had a pair of tall black boots, I'd swap those in., But maybe that would be too dark. Thoughts? </p>
