Alasse, ditsy florals unite! ;)

Thank you TG.

Oh thanks Diane! I definitely inherited my waist from my mom. :)

Donnat, they’re so funny! Both need to know what’s going on. hehe

Astrid, yes to childhood floral dresses from the 90s! Mine always had big white collars edged in lace. :D

Thank you Tulle! I wouldn’t say my figure is perfectly balanced, but full skirts give the illusion it is. ;)

That makes sense MG! As long as it doesn’t make me look like a ‘no neck monster,’ I’ll keep using it. And thanks for the kitty congrats! BTW I’m really enjoying the Beatrix Potter biography you recommended. :D

RachyLou, I used to wear wider belts quite a bit and still have my favourites. I took a couple courses of steroids a few years ago, and they kind of shifted where my waistline was, moving it a little closer to my ribs, which in turn made my wider belts less comfortable for sitting in. I’ll dig one out though soon!

What a kind thing to say Karie: thank you!

Thanks DakotaCheryl. :)

Firecracker, I think I have such a short neck that the combination of the turtleneck, the colour, and the loose hair just didn’t work somehow. I introduced Moth, the new cat in the off topic forum! Thistle was definitely not lonely, but I love animals, so I couldn’t resist taking advantage of my lease’s two-pet allowance to add another species. ;)

Thank you Karin!

Aubergine, now I have a great mental image of you walking around with your head bobbing about above your neck! hehe I did have a great trip, and it was so marvelous to meet you in person!!!

Thanks for the feedback Sara!

Thank you Texstyle! They’re doing great; not quite bosom buddies yet but they’ve both been very polite to each other since the beginning and will happily hang out together with me.

Thnx LadyOne!

Angie, I have to give all credit to the furbabies. Thanks for the feedback too!

I think the turtleneck looks good on you. The color seems like it would be versatile for your wardrobe as well.

I know what you mean about hair and turtlenecks. When my hair was long, I almost always wore it up with a turtleneck.

I really love the skirt and the addition of the sash with the outfit! The turtleneck seems to work well too, although I know what you mean about how they can look funny with shorter necks and intersect with hair in weird ways. With me, wearing my hair down with a dark turtleneck makes me look like my head is floating in space. Not that turtlenecks are great on me, period, but that's just especially awkward.

New kitty looks adorable! I hope you had fun on the rest of your trip, by the way!

Gorgeous outfit! You look great in the turtleneck. I'm surprised to hear it didn't look good with your bob, too. The sash on the skirt is such a pretty touch.
I'm glad you mentioned "two pets," because I was wondering, when I saw the cat in the photo. What's the story? Was Thistle lonely?? Ha haha!

Good to see you again, and looking so pretty! I love the way you take advantage of your beautifully balanced figure to wear clothes that could look merely dated on someone lacking your neat waist. (Also found your comment on Approbrio's thread about the consistency of your muted palette providing a sort of license to experiment with unusual silhouettes very interesting and illuminating.) However you arrive at your outfits, they always work, and seem to exist beyond fashion. So refreshing.

Last summer (still in Texas), I thrifted this turtleneck after being surprised by how not-bad it looked on in the fitting room and being unable to resist the rayon fabric and light taupe colour. Having a short neck, I've long avoided such necklines, but I brought it home & got both my mother & sister's approval. Then in the fall, after I moved north, I pulled it out only to discover that with my new bob, it didn't work nearly so well (in the Texas summer, I always wear my hair up). So I've patiently waited until spring, when my hair's grown out just long enough to manage an updo, and I pulled it out on Saturday to give it a go.

To read more springlike, I paired it with this ditsy floral print skirt that I also thrifted last year. I'm pretty sure it was homemade sometime in the 90s, and I adore it for its blue-green colour, generous pockets, and the little flowers around it all. I've worn it quite a bit, but I don't think I've shown it on the forum before; I fully expect a lot of you to have a poison eye for such a dated fabric. That's ok! ;)

I love combining pinks, so I added raspberry tights and a rose sash, which are both represented in the floral print, and finished things off with my little hedgehog friend. I liked the combination of playfulness and primness that the final outfit gave off.

All feedback welcome, as always! I'm especially curious about what you think of me in the turtleneck, but any comments are appreciated. I should have pulled the neckline back up I suppose, but this is what it really looked like at the end of a day spent mainly in a combination of reading and convincing the two pets that they could share my attention and lap and apartment (it was their first day together). As you can see, I now have two photobombers! lol

I forgot to take outerwear pics, but I wore my new grey trenchcoat (part of my spring/summer update that I'll hopefully be posting about soon) and grey oxfords. And I forgot to take any detail shots too or pose earlier in the day so the lighting would be less obnoxious. I had a lot on my plate, but I'm trying to get back into the wiw habit, so there you go!
