I can't remember a time when I didn't have some brown carpenter pants in my closet -- either these Mountain Khakis or similar from Carhartt. The question is always whether they're appropriate to wear out into town, and right now they are! Which is great, because they're so comfortable. I moved a bunch of firewood this morning and got a couple garden beds ready for winter. Nice to do it and not bother to change when I left the house at noon.&nbsp;</p> <p>I am so completely sold on the fanny-pack-as-crossbody. It works so well. My stuff is easier to access than if I wore it as an actual bum bag, and it doesn't flap or dangle or move around too much. Also, I can unbuckle it instead of lifting it over my head. Added the hat at the last minute on the way out the door to pick up kiddo (should I call him Le Petit Ped here?). In a few weeks it'll be too cold to wear it, so I'd better enjoy while I can! When I bought this hat, I had a pixie cut; it's a totally different look with longer hair, but I still like it. I've had the carpenter khakis forever, and last spring it occurred to me I could try cuffing them for a different look. I wear the American Giant hoodie almost every weekend; it's one of those "armor" pieces for me. Trusty Pata fanny pack, which I now use to the exclusion of my other small crossbodies because it works so well. </p> <p>Also pleased to report that the three main pieces here (hoody, pants, shoes) were purchased secondhand. I've been trying to track what percentage of my daily outfits is bought new vs used. I'm only a couple weeks in, so not much data yet, but quite a few of my most-reached-for pieces are secondhand, and the items with the fewest wears tend to be retail purchases. Hmm... </p>
