It caught fire Friday night, finally! Which actually was the kick in the behind the facilities manager apparently needed to get it overhauled. Yesterday it was 'cleaned' for possibly the first time in a decade --- I have soot in my lungs and a sore throat from all the particulates that rained down the vents as a result. Quite the health hazard |-x And I say 'supposedly' because I'm *not* freezing yet, after the repairs... !</p> <p>Claire, you can bet I'm bringing a jacket or shawl to work each day, just in case! :-D</p> <p>Beth Ann, I'm a big fan of tortoiseshell clips! It's what I always choose for a neutral! I have a barette and a 'claw' in that finish, and those do get used often. Plain black barettes, like maroon skirts, are a thing I'm a little leery off, having been forced to use nothing but for 12 years of going to school in uniform. The top has a perfect neckline -- cool, but covered, opening up the neck and chest while drawing attention to your face. I also commend you on making great strides in the fit of your trousers. As you know, many YLFers struggle with fit issues in pants, and your height and rise makes you search doubly hard for good options. The wider leg of these jeans is perfect for a hot day!</p> <p>I'm wearing my hair pulled back in the heat, too. I've been attached to a large rectangular tortoise shell barrette pulled to the nape of my neck. Recently, I've started rolling the pony under into a simple low chignon beneath the barrette and secured with two large hairpins. Thankfully, I'm in Delhi now, which is quite a bit drier than Kolkata (Calcutta) even during this season. Sadly (happily?), these were the jeans I was supposed to dump for being far too baggy when I did my closet run-through earlier this year. It *does* fit perfectly just now --- which is not good news for my activity or stress levels, but I guess at least I saved money by hanging on to them (or I'd have to get new ones!)</p> <p>Carole, it's a little less yuck (maybe?) than I'm making it sound up there. The AC at work is kaput --- just the week we need to work 12-hour days or longer, and through the weekend.</p> <p>Still, can't go to work in shorts or shorter skirts (even midis), because once repaired, it's going to freeze me alive.</p> <p>Compromise: Lightweight bootcuts, short-sleeved knit top, new loafers (this is the rest of July's SYB budget, not leather so good for the wetter days we have now). Hair pulled back with red polka-dot scrunchie that you can't see. The floral-print woven jute bag was not the best thought-out choice --- wanted something smaller than usual as had reams of paperwork to bring that day. Will try and do better next time. </p>
