Ooh what a fun combination! The green feels positively perfect for spring and all the ruffles are unexpected (even surprising, to me), in a way that makes it feel light and fun.

Thankyou Deborah, I had a feeling your process would be organic because you have a controlled palette that frees you to be creative with line and texture.
I always pack my summer clothes away during winter but I'm going to follow your lead here and hang all my clothes together. I think that will be a useful first step.
I sort my wardrobe by colour only so I will try sorting by type and see if that inspires some new pairings.

Lantana, I have managed to reduce my wardrobe so that it all (that is all seasons) fits in the one walk in robe. With the exception of my coats which are kept elsewhere. I order my closet by item type and then colour. So all pants hang together and are hung in their colour groups, both summer and winter. Same for blouses, skirts, etc. I do find having all seasons together provides more opportunities for wear eg a short sleeve blouse ot tunic can easily be worn in winter with a layer over it. I don't have any great strategies apart from trying to ensure my clothes all work together as much as possible:). I probably do have capsules but I think they come together more organically than strategically.

Oh I love the green with black - and that is a beautiful green for you too.
Deborah, this year you felt "confident and ready" to transition into spring and I'm interested to learn your strategies. Do you pack away all your winter clothes and bring out all the warm weather pieces? Do you plan capsules? I'd love to hear your insights into the process.

I do feel that there is quite a bit of ruffle and drape going on but after a couple of looks my eye adjusted and I feel similar to Angie in that there is 'order in chaos' so yes I think it works and I love that green on you. FF's comment rings true about the tie front having a look of a man's tie. I like that effect.

It's really fun to see you in colour. I think I might faint.

I like the maximal styling of all the pieces - ruffle, drape, tie, pleat - and think you carry off the look well, Debs. It's fab. My eye sees dicipline within the chaos. This is fashion.

And swapping out the jacket for something more simple will work too of course.

I actually like how the blouse tie in that state looks very faintly like a men's necktie, so I thought a more menswear jacket with those pants would be a nice nod to that. Sort of similar in feel to that amazing suit/white tee combo you wore the other day.

If you go with a bow it would depend on where it sits, I think. If it fell to just about the same level as the waterfall, that could be very chic, but I still might go with a sleeker skirt. Entirely without the tie would probably give you a lot more leeway in terms of toppers and bottoms, but would be a less exciting. ;)

Wise words FF.. thank you. I did actually put another much more streamlined jacket on and then swapped it ... I am not sure why. I am thinking that perhaps the blouse would be better withot the tie?? Or if I tied the tie into a bow bringing the details to the neckline and leaving the midsection more streamlined?

Hmm. I love the color on you, I love all the pieces individually, but I feel like all 3 of these together is just a little too much "action" in the front, if you know what I mean. I feel like the tie front and the gathered neckline is conflicting with the waterfall on the topper. That plus the pleat on the pant is a bit busy. Maybe you could pair the top with a sleeker, more tuxedo style jacket and/or a plain pencil skirt?

Hi Fabbers,

Well Spring has arrived in down town Bendigo and this is the first year in a long time (maybe ever!) that I have felt confident and ready to smoothly transition from the cold season to the warmer. Most years I stubbornly refuse to let go of winter dressing, dragging winter pieces screaming into Spring ;)

So for work today I have worn my summer weight slouchy pants, sleeveless green silky blouse and cotton waterfall jacket. I so wanted to wear boots but I did so yesterday and I was just too warm, so my grey and black animal print wedges are back in action.

Thoughts, suggestions all much appreciated.
xxxDeborah
