<p>Thanks Astrid! I think of you when I wear this coat, as it's German &amp; a shade of blue that you like too. I'm sure Thistle's mental dialogue involves wondering why on earth I have to stand staring at the hateful black box (she does not like cameras pointing at her) before taking her on a walk. hehe

<p>Oh, I had missed this when you posted... I love the look! Both with and without the outerwear. That coat looks so warm and the color is fantastic on you. Also love how Thistle's sitting there and waiting impatiently for her walk. She's probably wondering what takes you so long.

<p>RetailGirl, I haven't heard of those retailers, but now I'll certainly look them up! I have a big on traditional sweater knitting that mentions Tyrolean ones, and it definitely makes me want one.</p>
<p>ABC, I'm definitely not offended by being called adorable or cute. No worries. I'll try to add some snow pictures to my next post too!</p>
<p>A, I'm in the Great Lakes area of NY, so essentially across the lake from Toronto (and you, I'm guessing). And yep, Thistle likes to photobomb; I take my pics right before one of our walks, so she's impatiently waiting for us to head out!

<p>Beautiful coat x 10. Are you in North America with that snow? You don't have to reveal your location but Toronto and area received a pile today. Our driving was treacherous today</p>
<p>Did I spot a cute little doggie?

<p>That coat is beautiful! I responded to a post by firecracker a week or so ago...she had a Lodenfrey coat and it reminded me of one I had when I was 13 or so and also of another one I had when I was .18 or 19. I still have several Geiger of Austria jackets from when they were popular in the 80's...I just love the Tyrolean style! And it fits in well with your own personal esthetic. Have you ever seen the Gorsuch catalog? They have some beautiful things, much of which is luxe European ski style type stuff, but also some traditional Tyrolean styles, which I love but I'm not sure where they could be worn. But you look cute as always.

<p>Kerry, I love crisp walking weather too. I definitely had a nice wander! I’ll see come March if I’m still in love with winter. ;)<div><br /></div><div>Thank you Tania! I was so pleased with the fit, since I bought it from Ebay, which even with measurements is more of a risk.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Karie! I love cold weather so much I doubt I’ll find winters too long, but we’ll see what I’m saying in a few months. Of course, I’m going home to Texas for Christmas, so I’ll get more than enough sun then!</div><div><br /></div><div>Suz, I completely agree about buying vintage. I bought this coat off Ebay, not a thrift store (my Goodwills in Texas only seemed to have dated coats), and it was a bit of a splurge at $80 inc shipping, but the quality is worth far more than that. It’s so soft &amp; comfortable (my other wool coats all have a certain amount of stiffness to them, which is fine, but this one is remarkably supple) &amp; warm &amp; well made. *happy sigh* I agree; driving in snow is not fun at all. Hence why I made sure I was in a walkable/bus-able neighbourhood! hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>MG, just let me know when you’ve rustled up a polar bear for me! When it gets cooler I’ll definitely be wearing the cape; it makes it very fairy tale like, but hopefully not too over the top.</div><div><br /></div><div>I love the silence of a fresh snowfall too Joy &amp; my walk yesterday was full of that. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Staysfit, I am not a runner, so I admire everyone who runs in any weather conditions, but especially ones that require extra shoe grippers! I’m glad you got to enjoy the snow; I’m lucky that I can get around via walking &amp; buses so don’t have to worry about driving or car maintenance.</div><div><br /></div><div>Diane, snow was a huge factor in my decision to move up here, so I completely understand! I’m like a big kid too; probably because my actual childhood was spent moving between Texas and England, neither of which saw regular snow. It wasn’t until college that I got snowy winters, so now I’ve got to make up for lost time. ;)</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Texstyle! It makes looking out the window very pleasant.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Alasse; I’m glad the bust issues were less obvious to others. These are actually the only all cotton, real denim jeans that I own, and I like that they’re more straight legged than skinny. Feels a bit more timeless/vintage somehow. I’m actually mulling over my devotion to skinnies lately, although I’m still getting plenty of use out of my skinny cords. Perhaps another style shift is in my future?</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you RachyLou! I believe I first got the idea from a Bones episode many years ago, in the first or second season. I loved the way they used to dress Brennan, although in the later seasons they’ve switched to a more ladylike look that I don’t care for considering her character.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Gwennie! I’m so excited to have a real winter for the first time in 4 years. :D</div><div><br /></div><div>Awww: many thanks TG.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Windchime!</div>

<p>Love the outside pictures of the snow and your interpretation of it in the clothing that you're wearing. What a wonderful way to celebrate the beauty of the season. I like the blouse over the sweater. Not something that you see often, but an interesting and lovely look with the different textures.

<p>Gorgeous, vintage-y blue on you! I like the silky bow and the pointelle-like texture of your underlayer. The jeans fit you well, too (not your typical skinnies?). I didn't notice any bust issues, but I agree that Natori can be&nbsp;flattening - most annoying when one is already&nbsp;smaller. Oh, and the snow picture is so lovely!</p>

It was a good day to relax and hang out at home. I hope you enjoyed your walk. I used to love running on days like this because it feels so peaceful and it is so pretty, but, I definitely would use ice grippers on my shoes or boots!

<p>That blue!! It is magical on you.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Looking at that coat I remember what's great about thrifting. The quality of older garments really can't be matched, or certainly not at that price point.&nbsp;</p>
<p>What gorgeous photos. I like the indoor ensemble, too.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I went for a long walk in the snow, too, and also did some shovelling. It's beautiful, and the only way to tolerate it is to get out in it - on foot. It's awful to drive in.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<p>Today we had our first winter storm, according to the meteorologists.&nbsp; It snowed all day &amp; accumulated in lovely heaps; apparently this will likely go on until Thursday. But even though it's snowing, it's only just colder than freezing, so it's that wonderful powdery snow, and just perfect walking weather. It felt like the perfect time to wear my vintage blue wool coat for the first time; I'd been saving it for winter weather, as it's super warm and cosy (it's from a German company &amp; made of Loden wool, which goes through a special felting process to increase its waterproofness and warmth). Look at the embroidery on the pockets! It has a removeable cape &amp; hood that are also embroidered, but I thought that'd be overkill in this weather. When midwinter arrives, I'm sure I'll be grateful for them. ;)&nbsp;I felt my weatherproof riding boots provided a nice compliment, and I'd just finished knitting this light grey hat (undyed so a very sheepy grey) and couldn't resist trying it out. The coat's collar fits well enough that I didn't need a scarf, as it was warm for snowy weather anyway (30F/-1C).</p>
<p>In order to ensure I didn't overheat, I opted for a fairly light outfit underneath. I wanted to reflect the snowy colours a bit, and I love to mix textures, so I pulled out this old silk champagne blouse and wore it over my only long sleeve white top, which is mainly cotton but has a bit of angora in it for lightweight warmth. I thought it'd be interesting to contrast it with jeans instead of a more vintage-y or fancy&nbsp;option. I popped my hedgie brooch on for the photos, but then I decided I preferred the blouse plain, so that the soft colours weren't overpowered.</p>
<p>I got this blouse when I was still in college, and now it's a bit tight in the bust. So instead of wearing my usual Gap wireless&nbsp;t-shirt bra, I wore the Natori Feathers one I got during the NAS sale a few months back. This bra fits better than any other underwire one I've tried, and it works great with my lower cut tops, as it creates a nice look in the decollatage region,&nbsp;but I really don't like the shape it gives me under higher cut&nbsp;tops. Somehow, it flattens me out or lifts too much or somehow makes my bust : ribcage ration look off balance.&nbsp;I know I'm small to begin with, but I look bustier braless than strapped into this! Anyway, I opted for it with this blouse because I thought the smaller size would work better with the cut, but upon seeing these photos I've vowed to never wear it with anything but my lower cut blouses ever again. Sigh. I'm sharing the photos anyway, for outfit feedback,&nbsp;and luckily no one else saw me outside of my coat. ;)</p>
<p>I've included&nbsp;a quick photo I snapped of the view out of my window before I went on my walk. I do love winter!</p>
<p>All feedback, suggestions, criticisms, etc. welcome as always.
