Retirement has been on my radar for a few years, but the timing did not feel right until this year. The pandemic did challenge us all, but it did not really factor into my decision. I just felt ready. Sure, I could have taught for a few more years, but I wanted to depart while still fully engaged and loving my job.&nbsp;<div>&nbsp;It was getting harder to balance my work life and my personal life. In truth there has not been a good balance for a few years. I was bargaining my time. I would work longer days so I could take time for family on the weekend. I’d claim Saturday as a school free day, but have to work like crazy on Sunday.<br />&nbsp; The actual kid piece, the teaching is where the love was. More and more needed to be done outside of the school day.
