Tex, I just bought my first plain white T-shirt in years. Maybe my first ever. And I'm in my mid-50s... I plan on using it the way I would use a white button-down, except when I don't want the collar. Maybe you're just suffering from an overdose.

I think you look terrific in all of these, but I understand absolutely about being well and truly fed up with an item and feeling it needs to go because it doesn't represent your new style direction. So I say heave ho!

*Whew!* I'm glad that Angie and Jonesy both gave outfit 2 the thumbs up because I looked at it and thought, "Oh! I really like that. That's some serious and interesting pattern mixing." Since pattern mixing is my new style goal, I'm all about your look in 2. If it isn't your goal or your style though, then yes, the dress needs to go!

I understand. And I think I'm finally starting to *get* how prints and I have a short but torrid love affair, and then, suddenly I wake up and feel the printed item is not longer me, and how I'm so *over* it. I wonder if the fact that your dress is printed has anything to do with the fact that you feel it no longer represents your style.

I think this is that quandary between what is flattering and what feels stylish. I know logically the dress flatters me, but I don't feel it represents me particularly anymore. I know the mini and tee, by contrast, do not flatter my figure as much, but I feel more stylish in them.
Texstyle, I realize many are coming from a place of tees as default wear, and trying to move away from them, but I am on the opposite side. I had to wear a tee for over 15 years as my uniform for work, so you can bet I wasn't sporting one on my own time! I am finding the simplicity of a tee as backdrop for accessories that exemplify your style very freeing.
Rae, high five regarding staying true to your style!
Jonesy, as much as I appreciate the sentiment, pattern mixing pretty much makes my skin crawl lol! (I do love the shoes, though, and they are totally inspired by you and your ankle strap snakeskin sandals)
Thanks for the comments and input!

"...purging is as important, if not more important, than carefully selecting new purchases."

So true! As another large closet person trying to pare it down, it's amazing how many more things keep jumping into the purge pile. You are really staying true to your signature style these days - #3 does look much more like your current vibe. And hey, if you're no longer in love with something, why wear it just for the sake of wearing it?

So hard on yourself! The dress is such a pretty color and nice, clean style. What is it that you don't like about it? Shoes are always hard for me as I tend to go for comfort over style most of the time. The tee and mini denim skirt are fine too, esp. with your legs. But I've sort of stopped wearing plain white t-shirts out of the house - I used to practically live in them years ago but now I'm trying to "up" my style to go more with my age.

I happen to love the dress with the sandals in #2 (pattern mixing FTW!) but you've gotta go with whatever makes you feel comfy and stylish :). It must be tricky to be ready to hop to it with only a few moments' notice!

First, I realize (when the BF came home unexpectedly from work to grab me to go to the bank) that I often have about 2 minutes flat to get ready to 'see the world' here in FL. Not having my own car makes getting ready very 'of the moment' with my BF's hectic work schedule. Either it's surprise pick ups, or I'm up and out of bed just in time to drive him to work to have the car. So, half the time, what I wear out in public here in FL is less put together than my at home looks that nobody sees. Ugh.
Secondly, I realized purging is as important, if not more important, than carefully selecting new purchases.
I started with look #1, but the shoes I'd already put in purge pile after trying to save them by cutting off the leather flower. In haste, I went with #2 but see that the sandal is all kinds of wrong for the dress lol. At home afterwards, with time to myself, I retried my denim mini. Yes, it's on the shorter side, but with the tee, and belt with echoing earrings, it felt so much better than the dress.
So . . . the dress is off to another home and so are the sandals from #1. I know the mini will only last my FL duration and then, it too, will be off to a new home. And that's fine. I can enjoy it, and make it work for me the last few months I'm here.
