You look marvelous! The only part of you that looks pregnant is your belly - otherwise you've stayed the same to my eye. Great outfits indeed - maternity or not.

Natalie, I can't even imagine worse/less sleep (although I am sure you are right and that I will survive...somehow, because everyone does...somehow), and I certainly can't imagine it and going back to work at the same time. Wow, that is really tough that you get so little leave. A friend of mine is a physician in the U.S. and she actually scheduled a C-section to be sure she could take advantage of the 6 weeks leave she had negotiated for her baby. I think she was cool with that decision, but I am so grateful that I have more flexibility. I will still go to work voluntarily once a week though to keep up on things and keep track of my substitute. I am 34 weeks as of tomorrow. My belly is actually hugely out of proportion to the rest of my body at this point, but as long as I throw on a jacket and a scarf, it doesn't look so high and out there like it is. The baby measures average or above average (that's what I get for marrying a German, I guess), so I guess he is crammed in there somehow! These are maternity jeans from H&M. I have been really happy with them. The (p)leather leggings have an elastic waist, so I just sized up on those to give me a little extra breathing space.

Wow, all great looks! I'm amazed--you don't even look pregnant at all except for the last one--how many weeks are you? Are those maternity jeans? They fit you so well. You rock scarves--I should try some, I have a bunch but rarely wear them.

So jealous that you get to go on pre-leave! I'm planning to work right up until the end and I'm not sure how many weeks off I can take afterward--maybe only 2 or 4 at most.

Thanks for posting Scarlet--I'm really glad to see some more inspirational maternity looks from you! I always look forward to your posts! Best of luck with the upcoming delivery! Hope you can get some more sleep. And kimlee is right, as bad as your sleep is now, it's only going to get worse afterwards, so rest up!

Kelly,
you have nothing to be jealous of. I think you look better than you know. You always look great even though you fear you look boring. I guess an advantage of not having much to chose from at the moment is that it aids speed.

Texstyle,
I am glad you liked the boots in 4. I was really unsure about it.

Kim,
you know it has occurred to me that the insomnia may be nature’s way of preparing me to cope with much less sleep than I ever thought was possible. I used to be strictly an 8 hour a night girl and couldn't imagine life otherwise.

Angie,
I guess it’s my word of the week :o) Wow, 11 out of 10's! Thanks so much for your support. It means so much to me.

JR,
I am the world’s worst planner. Too fickle. And then sometimes I think I have planned ahead, but forget key details, like the tights :o)

Joy,
I did consider cutting the waist band, but had visions of going overboard and having my tights falling down all day. Good to hear you have also been confounded by a pair of pantyhose. It makes me feel less silly :)

Sarah,
yes, I am so lucky. Keeping up a full schedule with a long commute is running me ragged right now. Before I became pregnant I didn’t understand this and thought the idea of leave beforehand was crazy, but my tune has changed! I guess in general we all do what we have to do to get by, but I bet if women in the U.S. could have some more leeway before D-day, it would lead to better health outcomes.

Scarlet, you are just TOO cool for words. Honestly. Love that ruching idea - what a way to turn matronly into modern! And aren't you lucky to be in a country that actually lets you take time off before the baby comes! I remember visiting Poland for work when I was 6 mos pregnant, and noone could believe I was still working. They wouldn't let me lift a finger. All the while, my colleague was trying to explain to the Poles the differences in attitudes towards pregnancy in Europe vs. the US.

I sleep so badly right now and then get up so late that mornings are just a panic. This was speed dressing week.

(1) Bought this mongo wool scarf to keep my belly warm when I wear my fall jacket, but I need to figure on the best way to tie it to master the bulk. Yes, those are mittens on strings dangling out of my sleeves. The latest thing in adult cold-weather fashion, I swear. Now I need a hat to complete the ensemble. Let me know if you have seen one.

(2) red checks, fall version. I am looking at a red and black check version from Zara now. I am really on a red kick.

(3) This outfit I threw on in a major panic to be on time. The time crunch was compounded by the fact that after leisurely sorting through my tights to choose the right color, I held them up before my eyes and suddenly remembered, oh yes, that won’t fit me just now. Thankfully I found this pair of stay-ups after tearing my closet apart. I fear without more dressing forethought I won’t convince many people about the high-tops, but I am going to revisit the combo soon and work it out.
ETA: when I tie those strings on the jacket it gives a cute shape, actually, but no pix.

(4) I don’t think this shoe choice was the best due to the high contrast and shortening of my leg, but again, I was in a hurry.

(5) This morning (a panic like usual) it occurred to me I had this very oversized non-maternity t-shirt that would probably still fit. I laughed when I put it on, because it didn’t look very oversized! I had read online somewhere about a designer using safety pins to “ruche” the sides of big shirts for maternity wear, so I gave it a quick try. It improved my side-profile. I am sure if I had more time to fuss the front would look better too.

Tips and comments appreciated! My leave starts next week, so I will be able to take more care once again and hopefully get more sleep!
