What a refreshing silhouette! I love the longer easy shirt under the more structured jacket. I also adore the pearls under the scarf...how clever.

Great look and thank you for sharing your style journey. I have ventured away from my love of black/neutrals, solids, minimalist, modern styling. I typically wander more towards classic. I then regret it -- and I end up going back to black (and minimal, modern, etc.)

GReat combination of textures and layers.
I think the jacket works great. Agree with above that I'd try a shirt with less volume and length though does not have to be actually fitted.

Thanks so much ladies!

jackiec and shevia, so interesting to hear that you both went through style shifts post kids - I think for me it has something to do with spending 2+ years in sweats during mat leaves!

ms. loathsome, thanks for the suggestion! That's how I would usually wear it but I thought i would modernize it and step out my comfort zone of figure flattery by pairing it with a tunic-length white shirt. Next time I will try it with a shorter length.

rachylou thank you! I am liking pearls because of the sheen and dimension they add, but I struggle with keeping them modern. Glad you think this works :)

Your outfit is gorgeous, Roxanna, very refined and elegant.

I think it's inevitable that our style changes along with life stages and also with our environment. I have lived in a rural area for most of my later life, and have become more casual as a result. If I were to move back to city life, my style would undoubtedly change. I just go with the flow, and let my style evolve with my circumstances.

I totally relate to the post-baby evolving style thing. I think the blazer, colors, pattern mixing look great on you. The only small suggestion I would make would be to tuck your top, half tuck, or pick a shorter or more cropped top that does not come below the hem of your blazer in order to show off your waist and lengthen your leg line. Or belt it. You look super classic nonetheless!

You look gorgeous in this outfit, Roxanne. Your style journey is so interesting! I don't think I've done a 180, but my style has evolved. I've gone in for different trends over the years, and my tastes have changed, certainly. But I can't point to a certain event that has changed me.

The greys and look terrific on you. I went through the biggest shift when I discovered fashion when my twins were 2 years old and I found YLF among other events. I did always have a sense of style in terms of what I would wear and what I would not, but was oblivious to fashion, trends and lots of other stuff. I had no idea how fun it was, but it is more of a process than an abrupt change for me.

Nice observations! I think the chaos of kids sometimes pushes us to the relative calm of neutrals and softness. Nonetheless, it's a growth and change phase. You are looking great. Love the soft scarf.

Having just come back from two one-year maternity leaves in four years, one of the most surprising things to me is how my style has evolved. Pre-mat leaves, my style was maximal - lots of colours, textures, patterns and layering, mixed in am innovative way with retro 50s touches. After my first child, I migrated to a cleaner look of silk blouse + slouchy wool sweater + pencil skirt, but kept the colour play, pairing unexpected colour combinations. Now I find I gravitate toward sophisticated luxe with lots of texture play and grown - up details. Where I loved saturated colours, I now like monochromatic colour schemes. Where I loved the coziness of knits, I now love blazers. I've traded in my chunky necklaces for pearls. Where I loved retro silhouettes, I now love modern, clean cuts. It amazes me how much my style (and my life!!) ca change in four short years!

I'd love to know: have you gone through similar style 180s? When and how did it affect you?

(All comments - positive and constructive - appreciated. This boxy, closed in style of blazer is new for me - does it work? Or should I style it differently?)
