Thank you, Angie! I made the gray skirt; it's the same original 1950s pattern that the white piqué skirt is from. The fabric is woven, and a wool blend, but feels like fleece. It's fun.

Rabbit, that is a really good idea. I do have gray tights now; but gray shoes have been a wardrobe hole for a long time. I'll keep trying!

Haha, I kind of gave up on the curling iron! It falls out a lot quicker than pin curls, and I'm too impatient. Thank you!

I really am intrigued by #3, and think (on a non rainy day) it might be great with gray tights and more refined shoes - in gray if possible), less Cossacky--but I love the textures and shapes of the red and gray on their own.

#4 lol, that's what happens when I try to use a curling iron to get my ends to turn under. Love the sweater fading into the jeans.

Great new coat on you in #10 - really works with your retro style and body shape.

Love the cobalt and black top together with the skirt in #13.

I think you need that coat too, Jenn! It comes in a lot of colors. I know I've seen black, salt & pepper tweed, red, mustard, and navy in addition to the green. Peplum tops look awful on me, because of proportions. At least most of them, with unbelted waist and gathered peplum. This coat works because it's belted, the skirt is flared, and it's long enough to cover. I had a peplum top once that was tolerable, because it had a ribbon belt, and a circular peplum. It definitely looked best with a slim skirt, though. I have a few wrap tops (like the recent ones from Kohl's) but the fitting is also tricky on them. :)

I think I got those flats two years ago, and they haven't been back. Just a random brand (and I had to size up a full size) but the two-tone is unusual and flattering. I hope Modcloth finds something similar!

Rachy, the blue is technically a (juniors!) sweater dress, but quite short without leggings. The stripe is just a sweater, plus a running skirt. It's not as seamless in real life, because the skirt is black and the sweater has navy, but it's subtle. Thanks!

SecretSquirrel, I want to see that combination! It sounds amazing. I'm looking forward to wearing these with lots of white in the spring/summer/fall, but I love how they work with black as well.

Diane, I really like how this coat looks with all sorts of silhouettes! But it's especially nice with slim bottoms like this. It was a bit too warm when I left the house that evening, but by the end of the concert I was very glad to wear it.

Alassë, the waist measurement on my skirt is about 28.75". That said, looking closely the button really should move over about 1/2" to keep the center back edges properly aligned. That would make it 28.25". But I think it's pretty subtle, so there's say 1" of leeway by moving the button one way or another. Hope that helps!

Yay, great! I really like the Bugle Joy skirt. It's definitely synthetic, and it came creased; I ironed on the wrong side to avoid any shine. It drapes and swishes wonderfully, and the zipper and button work smoothly and neatly and lie flat. I got the medium and the waist is perfect for me; I'll measure it if that would help. The only annoying thing is that it has no pockets. eShakti has spoiled me forever in that department!
Oh, and not to take away from Modcloth, but the brand is a rockabilly line called "Rock Steady." I think their website is steadyclothing.com, and there are more colors.

The Bugle Joy skirt in #13-14 looks very nice on you; what are your opinions on fit/fabric? (I occasionally check the range of colours at ModCloth.)

Somehow I'm waay behind on WIW's, and the weather has changed a lot since these. Please let me know if I'm posting too much or these aren't relevant!

#1-2, February 22: Statement skirt again, this time with new fine-gauge sweater turtleneck - clearance find at Dillard's. It's got small covered buttons halfway up the forearm, a nice touch to make it more interest.

#3, February 23: Red sweater, red belt, gray woolly skirt, mid-calf boots. Waterproof, because we got a good bit of rain that day. (First time we'd had anything significant since the first week of January.) I felt somewhat like a Cossack, but comfortable and protected from the elements.

#4-5, February 23 (choir): Athleta wool sweater, jeggings, sneakers because the rain was over. Also wild hair. I set my hair in pincurls, and sometimes they do crazy things. It's easy to curl them around the other way, but this was just funny.

#6-7, February 25: Cole Haan sneakers, one of my big splurges! Balancing the shiny with a very shiny necklace, and lots of matching blue.

#8-9, February 26: Shiny blue sneakers again! This time an unabashedly casual outfit: striped sweater, black leggings, black gear skirt. Perfect for running early errands on a day that started 30F cooler than it ended up.

#10-12, February 26: Another change, for a concert in the evening. New coat's first outing! The back view is lightened for hood detail. I'll have more pictures later; the hood is brilliant. This coat is WONDERFUL. I should have ordered it two years ago!

#13-14, February 28: A different WIB, from the Kohl's bonanza of spring tops. I'm so glad I tried this tee. It's simply a black lace yoke over royal blue, but it has a very elegant effect. It's perfect for work and still-in-jewel-tones choir attire for Sunday mornings. Also, paired with the basic black skirt from Modcloth. It does NOT have elastic (yay!) and fits great. For shoes, glen plaid in gray and white. From Payless.
