Good luck with the rotation challenge. Like your "skimpy top" outfit - doesn't look skimpy at all. The sage green top looks good with both skirts - you have the legs to wear the mini-mini.

Thumbs up. And here's to looking great at home. I haven't been able to work for years (health issues) and I long ago made it a rule that I would get dressed every morning and well enough that I could go out at the drop of a hat and smile at anyone who comes to the door. It's a question of self-respect, and of refusing to open the door to depression. I put cologne on almost every day too, using much the same reasoning. So enjoy your jewelry and your pulled-together outfits.

Elisabeth - good point about ways to make the mini more wearable 'at our age'. It's funny that at 41 it felt fine, but now at 42, it's not cutting it. Of course, pairing it with a racerback tank could indeed be part of the feeling too exposed issue. The last few times I wore it was with a slouchy tee half tucked. Hmm. I won't purge it just yet.

You've got fantastic legs, Mo, but I know what you mean about the super-short skirt suddenly feeling TOO short. I've got one too, and it's frayed, to boot, and although I'm not shy about my legs, it really feels like it's pushing it for a woman my age.

Could you try wearing your very short denim mini with a collared shirt (roll up the sleeves) and flat sandals or flat knee boots? That's the only way I wear mine now, unless I'm just hanging out in the backyard. The conservative button-front shirt somehow tones down the shortness of the skirt. Because you really do have great legs -- nothing wrong with letting 'em show.

The khaki skirt looks great with the top! I also like the "skimpy" top. Your arms and legs are so buff!

I love the 'skimpy' top --- so very gorgeous, both shape and prints. And what a clever switch with the pendant --- I wouldn't have thought of it, but it is waaay improved by the choker.

Agree with Beth on the skirt switch: they definitely make you look leggier than ever!

Beth lol at the chino shorts and ratty tee. Thanks, I think the longer length works better, too. Never thought I'd see the day haha.
Rae, I in fact put on 'our' convertible cargo vest/jacket with the skimpy top for a while yesterday I have a little trouble with the high collar hitting my collar bone in terms of comfort. Maybe it's because I got a small instead of xs? And thanks about the green top!

First things first: omgwow look at that mint/sage color on you! I don't remember that top, but it is now one of my favorites. Both skirts look great but yay for style epiphanies. Better to pinpoint where your style has shifted than go on feeling uncomfortable and wondering why.

I like #1 a lot, too. Doesn't seem skimpy with the clams, but who can argue with your great jacket collection?

Nice (said as I'm sitting on the sofa in ratty chino shorts and t-shirt, procrastinating from painting)!

Both outfits look comfortable and put-together. And I agree with your khaki skirt switch. Honestly, the longer skirt actually highlights your fab legs more than the shorter one and the whole look is better in terms of proportion. Very nice:)

I literally have gone no further than the laundry room. After reading that many of you kick around the house in your jewelry, too, I decided I'd keep playing with it. Why not?

Also, after figuring in my head that 5 skirts, 5 shorts and 5 dresses could all be worn twice a month for maximum rotation, I've been trying that out. Wed was my paper bag dress so yesterday was shorts and today a skirt. Going to see if I can wear 20 tops once each month too. Nothing strict but more like a little challenge to myself to get all things worn more.

#1 - shorts day. Ancient pair of ON cord shorts with a several years old top. I call it my 'skimpy top' and feel best when I put a layer over it.

#2,3,4 - skirt day. So far no plans, but might walk to the thrift shop to look for second hand tennis rackets. This started out with my denim zipper skirt but, once I took the pic, I realized this is the year I finally say No to the mini mini. I swapped out my khaki skirt instead and felt just right. Funny thing, when I bought the khaki skirt at 35 I felt it was borderline too conservative. (I also disliked the childlike look of the necklace, so I strung it on my silver choker instead). These shoes are simply awaiting my snakeskin gladiators and then they hit the purge pile.

sorry for the novel lol

Thanks for looking!
