But with an embroidery machine, you could do that, too, right on the jeans. (You would need to open up one of the seams to do it.) Or you could do it by hand. I'm not sure what kind of appliques they'll have at the fabric store, but you could look and see if anything has the feel that you want. You could also create your own applique; on second look at the ones on Manrepeller, it looks like a fairly simple design. I can't tell if the white part is fabric (applique) or thread (embroidery). But you could do what you want and really make it your own.
