#1: This works nicely!

#2: Love the gorgeous color and the brown trousers. What about a lower contrast, simpler underlayer. Its also a great length for wearing with skirts!

#3: Terrific layers. I think drapey looks aren't as fab on camera because we
can't see the wonderful movement. Looks great!

#4: What about the skirt in #4 with a jacket instead of the cardi? It would give a bit of structure to balance the drape. Just a thought!

#5: Love this! What a glorious silhouette -- and I love the low contrast color palette. Sometimes its nice to have an outfit that is out of our usual style

You mentioned working with orphans and SYC. These are great outfits in any case, but you are doing beautifully at integrated lesser worn items!

I love #1 and #5. I think point toed booties would be great in 5, and also, do try other colours and black with those pants!

Thanks for the references to Diana and E- I love both their styles!

I appreciate the comments; I think I'm in agreement with most.

Laura- the sweater is a very deep tangerine orange and the pants have a bright pink line. Sometimes I do try to "coax" colors to work together- it's worth a shot in my book to attempt.

kkards- #3 I think you are right. A lot of these choices were also based on warmth, so as I loaded up the layers I thought to try the color blocking. But ultimately, I think I would streamline next time.

i really like #5, its hard to see the shoes, but one way to de-prep would be to wear a pointed toe pump or bootie. you could also try the jacket from #3 with those pants. i like #2, great way to save a sweater. love the colors in #3, but to me, it seems like there is just to much going on, but then i'm in the minimalist at heart.

I think every outfit is very clean, except #4. With number 4, there's a departure with the collar that hangs open, paired with ruffles and a two-tier necklace (or two necklaces). I'm thinking a simple scoopneck for that one.

I really like you, btw, in strong colour - the orange and blue. Also, the longer shirt with the sweater really works for me.

1,4 and 5 are terrific. I think 5 is a home run. I like 2 but I think the blouse needs to be a little shorter perhaps.

I like them all but particularly 4. I agree that the under layer in 2 is maybe too long. What about the sweater in 2 with the pants in 5, or is that too out there?

Great week! I adore #5!! I struggle with things turning out a tad preppier than I intended, too. I like your solution for the sweater in #2 but think your under layer is too long. And I agree with Ceit that #4 is very Diana-ish

My favorites are 5 and 3. The tunic in 1 looks fine with the leggings. You have a nice variety of outfits here, all looking cosy.

I really like 1,2,4 and 5. I especially think you have a Diana/E vibe with 4. Really cute.

I like your idea of layering under the cropped sweater in 2.

I'd like to see you take the pants in 5 and try them with some other colours too!

So, week two of intentionally thinking about my outfits and trying to incorporate the tidbits I've learned through the site. Currently SYCing and trying out orphans and benchwarmers, combining in ways I haven't in the past. Don't think I've knocked it out of the park, but I feel comfortable saying I got on base.

1. Leggings aren't pants; but can a tunic be a dress? I thought this a dress when I bought it, but it reads more tunic-y to me when wearing. As I am wearing with leggings, I hope it passes.

2. This Anthro sweater has always been a bit short on me so thought I'd try the crop with drapedy underlayer look. Maybe it's in no man land of too long for a crop/ too short alone? Brown tweed wide leg trousers I almost ditched, but will keep until next winter to re-evaluate.

3. My attempt at color-blocking. I had a hard time getting a good photo of this, but I feel like the pictures were frumpier than real life.

4. Again, a combination I wouldn't have attempted before. I like ok, but the skirt has a high gathered waist and I think I will play off that when styling next time.

5. I suppose these pants are a little preppier, or something, than I usually am, but I just really really like them. I don't have a dark brown top to match. I like this combo, but would like to make them edgier. SIL recommended black top and booties, but I just couldn't do it.

Thanks for any input! If I don't respond, then I've lost power or internet- god help me. If I respond too much; well, then I'm keeping myself occupied at least through this dang storm.
