<p>"It was definitely very comforting to wear; whenever I'm in extra pain, I<br />
really value soft fabrics. They become even more of a treat by<br />
contrast, I think."</p>
<p>This really resonates with me. I am in the process of being diagnosed with a potential chronic illness as well, and I do notice that at certain times the comfort and <i>feel</i> of certain items is the deciding factor in what to wear. </p>
<p>For the record, I really admire your brave forays into non-traditional styles, and I think you are one of my favorite posters. I'm always excited to see a WIW from you!

<p>Thank you Tulle! I did knit it, swans and all. :)&nbsp;I'm still learning how to do colour work, but I'm improving, and I do love the final effect. Good motivation to keep practicing! I'm glad my hair's long enough to put up again, at least like this.</p>
<p>Joy, I actually plan to sew myself a circle skirt shortly, and I think the colour will work with this sweater! I didn't realise that swans were popular for skirts; that's so fun. :D</p>
<p>Thank you Firecracker! Astrid's very clever. :)<div><br />Thnx Deborah. I do love luxury, albeit in a rumpled way. ;)</p>
<p>Thank you Ruth! I'm finally feeling a bit better this morning; not out of the woods yet, but catching glimpses of clearing&nbsp;through the trees. It was definitely very comforting to wear; whenever I'm in extra pain, I really value soft fabrics. They become even more of a treat by contrast, I think.</div>

<p>I'm sorry you've had a family crisis and flare-up, E, and I hope you're finding your feet now. I'm happy to see you and your lovely swan sweater again. Great idea of Astrid's to pair it with your velvet trousers - it looks luxurious, and I imagine it was comfortable and "comforting" to wear.

<p>You look beautiful, E. I hope that your flare up disappears soon. I could see your swan sweater working well with a circle skirt. I'm old enough to remember when circle skirts with poodles on them...and swans!...and kittens were popular for girls.

<p>RachyLou, for some reason I don't like how Picasso paints women. I mean, let's be honest, the history of Western art is overwhelmingly one of&nbsp;male artists, so of course when women are depicted, they're often shown as objects. But Chagall's women seem as human as his men. Picasso's women...I don't know. Maybe I've seen too many serial killer shows, but I always get a sense of brutality and dismemberment. Or maybe I just prefer easy art. :)</p>
<p>Thank you Beth Ann! It's good to see you too. :)</p>
<p>Thnx Rabbit! The first time I shared the sweater, it was tucked into a skirt. I'm sure I'll wear it that way again, or experiment with leaving it out. I think I need a very full skirt to balance the shoulder broadening yoke, but luckily that's not a problem for my closet. hehe

<p>So good to see you!&nbsp; The sweater is lovely, and the texture of velvet against the handknit is probably even lovelier in person!</p>

<p>Ja, I can understand that about Picasso v. Chagall. In fact, I was just thinking about that. They share a certain quality of handwork... but, haha, Chagall is family friendly. Picasso is not a family guy. Lol.

<p>Thank you Tanya! Now that March has arrived, I’ve suddenly realised winter won’t last forever, so I’m trying to fit in as much velvet &amp; corduroy as I can before it’s seasonally inappropriate. ;)<div><br /></div><div>Your imagination is a wonderful thing Astrid. I am taking it easy, so hopefully the flare up will end soon. It’s being stubborn so far though. Hmph.</div><div><br /></div><div>RachyLou, may I admit that I’m not a big fan of Picasso? Now if it were an Emily Carr or Chagall challenge, I’d be all over that. But I’m very much enjoying seeing everyone’s interpretations!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Tr3kkie9rl. I have chronic illnesses, so they ebb and flow, but they’re always with me. They’re invisible too, hence why I don’t look sick! That and I only wear flattering colours, lol. If I were in neon yellow, you’d be asking if I should even be out of bed. hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Dee! I’m really pleased with how the fit turned out, although I have to wash it every 3 wearings or so, because it begins to stretch out, which is sort of weird. Anyway, I have a book with several other sweater patterns from this designer, and I definitely want to make another one or two eventually! And thanks for the chronic illness sympathy; I hope yours are behaving.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Kiwigal! This is about as bright of a colour as I go. The family situation has definitely calmed down again, thank goodness.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Anne! I’m all about comfort dressing when I don’t feel well.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Suz. I saw you’re in Israel: I hope you’re having a wonderful time! It’s a country I very much wish to visit.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Viva! Things have settled down, thank goodness.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx AM! It took me years to realise I enjoy feminine looks, but now I definitely embrace them. :)</div>

<p>I know I haven't been around much; my extended family had a crisis, so I was out of town for awhile, which always aggravates my illnesses, so now I'm just trying to get my feet back under me. But yesterday, I finally wore my (hand knit)&nbsp;swan sweater with my navy velvet trousers, as suggested by Astrid. I took a couple of photos for my Ravelry page, and I thought I should post them here too. Accessorised with my hand knit socks, to echo the swans, and hair tucked up so it didn't interfere with the sweater's lines. You can't see my rings, and a brooch felt superfluous. If I'd been thinking, I'd have added earrings, but there's always next time!</p>
<p>I'm going strong with a lack of interest in shopping, and I'm almost done knitting my new spring jacket. I seem to be transitioning from wanting a lot of mix &amp; match variety to preferring to stick with my favourite, tried-and-true pieces. A bit of wardrobe weeding has already taken place organically (a very bit; I still have a large closet, hehe), and I'm enjoying this next stage of style journey. I've now sourced an ironing board, so I hope to sew myself a circle skirt very soon, and eventually learn how to make more of my own clothes/alter what I have. I'll keep you updated on my progress!</p>
<p>All tips/suggestions/criticisms welcome as always. I'm off to do a load of laundry, but then I'll be able to browse the forum a bit. I'm sure you've all been creating beautiful outfits for this transitional weather.
