Thanks Smittie - quite possibly a fly!! Summer styling is so much easier for me than winter styling (I think it is because I love pattern and it is easier to incorporate in summer than winter).

Thanks JAileen - I love the kimono too - I have only worn it the once so far but plan to pull it out a bit especially in the evenings.

It mustbve been a fly in #4!
Your summer style is Amazing! You’ve really got it down.
I love the kimono look (tres chic!) and the straw hat look.

That is beautiful Sally, thanks :)

A blue skirt would be lovely. I think you will be able to find one pretty easily. I would like an olive green one, but haven't found the right shade and length yet.

http://www.bamboobody.com.au/s.....mboo-skirt

I am not sure whether a body suit would work for me. I am very long in the torso. My experience with them in the past is that they tend to cut in right where it's not comfortable! But I could try a coloured bra with the top. I like with yours the fact that the straps match the top and are very sleek (not lacey). I will give this some thought next time I get tempted by a halter neckline!

Thanks Brooklyn. I have attached a beautiful pohutukawa flower here (NZ Christmas flower) for you and wishing you a peaceful relaxing holiday period with lots of walks with Ms Brooklyn:) This is the flower on the blouse.

No I don't have a tube skirt but I think one in a blue could be a great addition for my wardrobe. And I agree ruched!!

With the bodysuit I think it is finding the right one (mine was a Heidi Klum for Bendon but I think an older range).

Merry Christmas to you Sally! I am sorry about your MIL. I have also had a lot going personally and professionally in the last few months and am feeling very spent. I am looking forward to the holiday break.

You are looking fab as usual. I like what you have done with the coral top. Very clever! Makes me think about that type of neckline again (which seems to be very on trend). I like it but always rule it out because of the bra issue.

I also really like the way you have accessorised the last outfit. And with the nail polish!

Love no 4.

With the top in 3, do you have any tube skirts? They are my go to for casual summer wear and I think that top with sandals and a nice long pendant would look great worn with it. I like the ruched tube skirts. They tend to have fewer VPL issues.

Thanks Katerina, and welcome to the forum!!

Thank you Angie, it has been hot and humid (but like you, I enjoy it)

Approprio - yes we are all out of sync at the moment. I give you permission to put up summer pics in our wet soggy foggy winters.

Under the dress and the coral tank top I am wearing a bodysuit. I can't find it online now but it is supportive and shaped. The coral tank is quite sheer and the dress a bit gapey so this solution really works for me. It means wearing one rather than three undergarments and I find many camisoles/layering tanks ride up and I am constantly readjusting straps, how they sit at the waist etc. I have a dark aubergine and an orange one in this style (that provides good bra support), and a black and coral one in a style where I do need to wear a bra underneath.

Thanks Sisi!!

Suz- I think the kimono might work with a black sheath- or maybe even a midi dress in an arty way. The new blouse would be great with white jeans but maybe not MY white jeans as they suit longer layers. I will try though.

Sal, you look wonderful. Casual, yes, but always considered and fresh. I like the new pieces. The top in #3 is pretty on you. You can wear it with the white jeans, too, no? And did you try with the skirt in 5 for a subtle pattern mix?

I love the kimono, too. (Well, I would, wouldn't I? It's blue and white, for heaven's sake!) Anyway, you absolutely can wear that with a dress. I got one last summer and found it worked well with jeans/ trousers and dresses (sheath or shift is best but yours is a bit shorter so might be easier to boss around as a topper with dresses.)

Wishing you a happy, restful holiday and much joy in the year ahead.

Thanks Angie. I find summer style so much easier than winter. although I did make some progress this winter.

Jenn - my favourite look was the A line too and I must repeat this one again. The chevron dress is fun, but not my favourite look. But every now and then it is just right.

Shevia - thank you. I like the hat too and wear it a lot. The work look is simple and easy and will be repeated again several times this summer. I don't like this shirt layered funnily enough so I need to wear it in the hot period.

Anne - the striped dress is so easy - I can imagine you wearing one similar actually. Perfect for hot summer days.

Fashintern - thank you. I do have one dress that I think of as Christmassy (white with large red flowers but it is not pictured here). I think I was moving in the photo and maybe moving a hair out of my lipgloss or something like that - I didn't notice until after posting then it made me laugh.

I was hoping you or some of the other southerners would post. It was 80 here today, and I wanted to dress Christmassy, couldn’t figure out how. Not that these looks are Christmas-like, but you always balance classy and (summer) fun, which is nice to see and helpful.

You and I can be dress sisters or something like that. I like to wear dresses similar to what you have on here, and you look great in them. The chevron is especially nice. I like your hat too.

Photo 4, lol. I hadn’t noticed, but now that you mention it, are you covering up a laugh or cleaning your teeth? Whatever it is, that kimono jacket is great.

Hi all my lovely forum friends

I have added some new pieces recently and being mid-summer, life has been more social, mostly in a casual way. The more dressy occasions I have forgotten to take photos but there have been repeats of some fast fall back options that I created.

Here are some of the days I have taken photos.

1) Rewearing my chevron dress with different shoes. Working from home on another hot day.

2) Look 1 - off to work in the office. I have to wear covered shoes in the office. Look 2 - going to watch cricket so very casual. We sat under a tree and enjoyed a relaxing morning.

3) A new top that has a pohutukawa print on it. I really liked it with these jeans. I will also wear with denim shorts but I am not sure what else it will work with (open to ideas). I could wear it off the shoulder but the straight line across my shoulders is not my best look. Worn to work (we are very casual).

4) A new kimono jacket. Outfit worn to an end of year school prizegiving. While the kimono is new the rest of the outfit has been seen (many) times before. I also plan to wear the kimono with jeans and black pants. It may even work over a dress or skirt.

5) Look 1 is a new dress worn to work from home on a very very hot day. Look 2 is out for a Thai meal on a humid and hot evening. All repeats and nothing new this year - I liked the proportions though. A good friend is leaving town sadly though so it was a slightly bittersweet occasion.

6) Styling the tee dress in a more dressy way for a coffee meet up with some friends. I rarely wear this necklace but I liked it with the monochrome.

Of these pieces the striped tee-shirt dress, the coral tank, the floral A line skirt, the chevron tunic, the navy kimono and the pohutukawa top are all sewn by my friend over the last 8 years The A line skirt is the oldest, and the newest ones were added two weeks ago!!

The end of 2016 and the start of 2017 were hard times for me personally with the passing of my Mother in Law, my Mum being hospitalised for over a month, some business stresses and challenges, and the world seemed a tough place for a while with natural and political disasters. While the political and environmental landscape is still very tough for many people, personally and professionally my situation has improved. But I know 2017 has been a hard year for many.

Thanks to you all - I do appreciate the support, fun, fashion and style advice and a window into the lives of many superb strong interesting women.

Wishing you all very happy festive thoughts.

ETA: Haha I relooked at my photos on my laptop rather than my phone. Very strange expression in photo 4!!
