I want this cold spell to go away NOW.

You look terrific. Very 2014 with the sneakers. And fun frock too. xo

Loving your sneaker looks! You do slouchy so well My fav is the first one. I don't like the cardi as much with it - maybe it's too sleek of a look paired with the slouch and sneakers?

Great top (of course). I like it with the shorter length jackets. The dress reminds me of dresses by local designers here too. Interesting.

It's hard to dress for summer when the weather won't cooperate! I like all your outfits here, especially #4 - even though the colors are darker, it looks the most summery because of the dress.

I prefer to wear shorts in summer specially cute light-weighted frocks. When it comes to footwear, I like to wear open ended shoes or heels.

Thanks, Ceit!

Suz, yes, cold spring/summer months can be tricky. I have a minty-aqua sweater that is great for spring, but it's wool and it felt a little too warm for the weather now. So strange.

Merwoman and Suz, thanks for the ideas on baring some skin. I don't think of that often enough. I could try it. I will have to try rolling the chinos--I tried it briefly but second-guessed myself on it with the high-top sneakers, so I didn't photograph it. I'll have to submit it here for opinions.

Pil, thanks. The French terry turned out to be comfortable. The silk is opaque, so it doesn't look as light, even in person, as it feels. The photos kind of bring home to me that summery flowers on a dark background don't equate to a summery looking garment--ha ha!

I was expecting to see that you made the dress, I love that on you. The silk blouse is beautiful and the terry peplum jacket sounds like the perfect weight for a cool summer day. I wonder if #1 might look less summery because it can be harder to get a sense of the fabric weight/texture in photos?

I love the topper that you made in pic 4 the dress is awesome as well. Do you only sew for yourself or do you create fantastic pieces for others? It is an lost art my mother sewed when I was a child. Silly me I did not wan to learn that or cooking now I'm suffering the consequences of both childhood decisions.

It's tough to manage this situation, isn't it? I have learned to buy warmer items in lighter "spring" and "summer" colours because you just never know with the weather what will happen.

I was wondering the same as Merwoman -- could you "summarize" by showing bits of skin -- rolled pants, scrunched sleeves, etc. Sometimes that can be enough, even when you still need to layer. But I also understand it might be too cold for that.

You look fab in that dress!

I love you in a dress - #4 is incredible!
I hear you about keeping warm - love the colour of those chinos! Have you tried rolling the pant leg? Or is it too cold to think about baring an ankle? I prefer the lower contrast sweater - but might change my mind if you untucked your blouse in photo 2.. Keep warm FC!!!!

It has been cool, and yet I don't want to dress as if summer is nowhere in sight.
I tried for some lightness in these outfits while staying warm. I don't have that many light-colored clothes to begin with, let alone ones that are the right medium weight for this finicky weather.
How did I do?

1: worn to work yesterday: charcoal floral silk peasant blouse (made by me); blue boyfriend chinos (Eddie Bauer); black belt (men's dept., Nordstrom, years ago); gray French terry peplum jacket (several seasons ago, Nordstrom); metallic high top sneakers (Paul Green).
2-3: other variations on the outfit, with taupe linen cardigan (Nic & Zoe) and pewter belt (Fossil). Cardi wasn't warm enough.

4: worn to work today: black and silver knit dress (Comfy USA); black lace shrug (made by me); black sling-back Mary Janes (Think! Aida); black leather cuff with studs (Nordstrom, last year); silver dangle hoop earrings (Marjorie Baer).

Thanks for looking! Thoughts and suggestions welcome!
