Thanks everyone! I am glad that I can now add orange to the list of colors that work with cobalt - Shannon is right, cobalt turns out to be surprisingly versatile.

Thanks for the ideas on how to wear the dress - I think denim jacket might be a good idea for a more casual vibe.

Cocolion, JamC, Lyn, Ingunn, Celia, thanks for the great suggestions on the second outfit - I was thinking of a long cardigan, too, as well as utility jacket, but my utility jacket is cropped and the cardis I tried did not quite work. I'll keep trying out various versions of this, though - I think this might be a fun weekend casual look.

I love the first outfit I think you were very brave with your color combination and it makes a great visual statement.
The second outfit is not too juvenile and I can see it working as a non work outfit, it just depend on how casual you want it to be.I would go have a coffee with friends in it but I would prefer a less structured jacket if I was doing some kid related activity.

I think I would like it best with a long top layer as CocoLion suggested, a long, drapy, oversized cardigan or a long olive utility jacket.

You look adorable! Have you tried switching the jackets?
I think that might work too.

I love the first outfit! Cobalt and orange make a strong contrast, but the stripes softens it enough to make it very interesting. The second outfit, which looks really good on you too, seems a lot like "you", to me, but I second CocoLion about trying some bookending with the boots. I actually think the blazer looks fine in this outfit. Don't worry about looking too juvenile, that's not happening here.

The first outfit is classic and ultra flattering. As for the second, the main thing is that the jacket feels too structured for the casual vibe of the rest of the outfit. Do you have a loose cardi, like a big cocoon cardi or other oversized cardi, to throw over it? Another idea is to wear a bf jacket. One that is the same color as the booties? If the jacket or cardi do not pick up the color of the boots, you might want to switch to darker booties.

Or you could wear a denim jacket and cons, that's a pretty young look but you are young I think. From what I can see from your neck at least!

I really like the first outfit, but the second looks great for non-work and not juvenile at all.

I would have never thought of pairing cobalt with orange/rust but my black jacket was at a dry cleaner's. I think this color pairing (taupe stripes, orange knit jacket, taupe boots) actually works OK with cobalt.

Also, what do you think about this short dress in #2? Would this pairing (ponte pants, short dress, jacket) work for relatively casual situations (non-work) or is it too "juvenile")?
