I think the fit is good Amy. If you want a trendier, sleeker fit then yes tapering to the knee would be what you're after. These are a much more relaxed vibe, which is fun too. Almost a slim wide leg feel.

Yeah, I was thinking that I'd like to see them narrower on the lower thigh/knee area. That would actually emphasize the flare a bit more, I think. Right now they look more like they fall almost straight from the hips: I like that cut, but I do think it's hard to wear without looking sloppy - in this denim wash it calls for casual shoes, I think, but then the pants flow better with some heel. A more definite flare would be more on trend too.

Aida, that was a great explanation. Makes sense to me. i was also wondering about where the flare started and the impact on how it draped.

Ah, yes, I didn't notice the belt. I wonder how it would look with a semi tuck.

Since these flare starting above the knee, have you tried a tucked shirt and less chunky shoes?

Thanks Aida - these shoes are pretty chunky, so I think there's more of a break from them than would normally be with a high heel - these are clogs, so almost like platforms in that sense.

These jeans don't feel roomy in the butt or upper thighs, but start their flare above the knee. I don't think I'd be comfortable with them tighter up top, but perhaps they could be narrow further down on the thighs through the legs, hmm..

Can you tell my work is slow today, ha! Perhaps I'll take some jeans-fit pictures :)

The fabric break is likely coming from the shoe and heel height. If the shoe is chunkier and also not high, the hems will bunch like that. Think of where the fabric would go if the shoes were, say, a higher heeled pump; it would drape down over the top. If the flare is very wide then with lower shoes you might avoid the break. I've heard that people will alter the hems to be slightly diagonal for wear with shorter heels but haven't tried myself so can't vouch for it.

The fit looks good, is it a bit roomy? They have a nice relaxed vibe to them.

(I like the cloudy photo best. Cloud cover is the best type of "shade"!)

Hmmm... this makes me wonder if perhaps my grass is too long to take photos in. I know the porch photo is darker, but do they look too long in that photo too? They really don't touch the ground when I stand/walk

I too think they are too long for those shoes. They do fit in the thighs though, and I like the whole outfit.

Thanks Tania - I'm actually wearing a wide black belt, but it's hidden by the band of the top. These jeans almost graze the ground in these shoes, so I think they're the right length - but they do bunch up a lot on the tops of the shoes, don't they?

I like this a lot. What about a wide black belt? And are the pants a bit long for the shoes, although I don't mind a bit of length there for casual looks.

Just a simple outfit - appropriate for our spring weather. These are my one pair of bootcuts that, in my opinion, fit me properly at the moment. Do they? (I'll use them as a guide to alter the others, which are big in the thighs, if you agree)

I feel like this look is short in the top, and long in the bottom but to some extent, that's kind of the trend now, isn't it? Does it look off to you?

Outdoor shots for Angie One in the cloudy "sun", one in the "shade". I'm squinting, even though it's cloudy. I guess it's still bright for me.

Suggestions for improvement?

ETA: Took some more pics. #3 is top semi-tucked to show belt. #4-#5 are jeans fit angles. What's your take on how these fit? I think they fit properly (borderline snug, even) in the hips and upper thighs. They give me the lightest muffin top in the waist - most pants too, since that's where I'm thickest, proportionally. Is that how they look in the pictures?
