I will also be pinning those wide-leg looks! Thanks for the links Aida I really admire your style so seeing you in these looks is reassuring and inspiring, as I wore a lot of wide legged jeans in the spring, pre-ylf, and was starting to feel I must have been terribly out of it. But for practical reasons they *are* seasonal. I think I'm going to do two pinterest style boards, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. Also I've learned (as many have commented), they don't fade well. The dye idea is great, I might be abe to revive a favourite pair - I'm not much for DIY but maybe I can handle that much! Thanks amiable for starting the thread.

Another vote to pass on the white jeans, the fit doesn't do you justice. The wide legs are good but maybe not a perfect fit. Perhaps good to keep until you find a replacement pair. The green sweater looks like a keeper, but I am unsure of the aqua. Good colour but I think too short for jeans.

I agree with Aida that the aqua sweater - which is lovely - would work better with skirts.

Another vote to toss the white jeans, and keep both sweaters (the aqua looks skirt length to me).

On the wide legs, I quite like them; I have a similar pair and enjoy wearing them in spring/summer because it's too wet where I live to wear them much in fall/winter. That said I have a serious 70s streak in my style I agree with you, they're really hard to photograph! With that silhouette, you'll want to pair a top that's adding vertical lines to really play up the height so another vote for a v-neck top with those or long pendants, rather than a high contrast belt. The aqua sweater might also work with these wide leg jeans since they are higher-waisted, for a more literal 70s vibe.

If it helps, here are a few outfits with mine:

Ooh - good point on the Turtleneck - I hadn't thought about that, just knew that I never wore turtlenecks. But then I came here and liked them, so dug two old ones out, and liked them.

I sense some experimentation with sweater surgery coming up - Wouldn't this be fun with a scoop or a v-neckline?

I love the blue and white color combo on you! Funny about the strange fit, however. I like the shade of blue on you on the wide legs. Do you have a striped top or anything else to carry out a sailor vibe with those jeans? You could even do with with a crisp scarf.

Mmm, yes, I think so too: White jeans out. The turtleneck is too big and clingy to my eye. I'd try the aqua sweater with the wide leg jeans and a wider belt. I do rather like the idea of wide leg jeans on you; I agree there as well, there's a nice balance.

I agree the blue top is great, white jeans gotta go, the blue jeans would probably benefit from some dye, and just wanted to add that the green color is very nice on you, but I don't think a turtleneck is the best option. I think v necks would look fantastic on you.

Thanks so much for the comments ladies!

I should add that the wide-leg jeans are actually quite dark (ETA: Just looked and no, they're not - I was delusional - a box of RIT dye is in order) - I lightened the photo so that it wouldn't just be a dark blob, and show a bit of detail. I'm on the fence about keeping them (leaning toward keeping them, because I really do like them, but not giving them as much wear as my other two pair), but the white jeans are definitely out. My efforts in narrowing the legs just made other fit issues show up.

Soon I'll be posting trousers - I realized last week (thanks to comments here), that they're almost all too short for me, so I'm going through lengthening (or changing the shape of) just about every pair of trousers that I have. It's fun! (I hope I don't ruin them all).

And Jules - you're so right to note that it takes a fair amount of time and energy to set up pics of what you're wearing every day. I worked hard at trying to 'look decent' for almost two years before I started taking pics a couple of months ago, and can say that for me it's been so worth it. I really have (had) no idea what I look like. And the help that I get here is so valuable - you're all so patient and kind to give me feedback.

toss the white pants. keep both sweaters. the kelly sweater is very on trend. i feel that the jeans may have potential, but may need a bit of diy...eg, dye-ing a much darker color, or keeping the color but narrowing the legs.

That's good to hear amiable - I do assume that people are on here for honest feedback but sometimes worry about hurt feelings. Especially since I don't open myself up for it with pics (I have a lot of desk time to look and comment but not a lot of time to organize a good camera, lighting, or deal with bad pic/self-image issues).

I like the acqua sweater. The whites jeans are too tight in back (and it's not you, it's the pants!).
The wide leg jeans at first glance look too big. however I do like wide leg jeans. But I think what you could do for the outfit is accentuate your slim ribs under your breasts with a buttoned cardi maybe? The aqua sweater may even work here because it's a bit more fitted.
I agree with Natalia, especially compared to the "cute butt jeans" I commented on the other day, neither of these pairs is doing you full justice!

I'm getting down to items that I think I love. Now to decide whether they fit will enough to keep.

#1-2 These white jeans were bell-bottoms, and I narrowed them, but the crotch is still weird (tight in the back, loose in the front). Also, white isn't exactly a practical color with five kiddos, so it's likely that if I keep these, they'll become mustard or burgundy..... Is the aqua sweater too short?

#3-4 I like these wide-leg jeans more than I expected. It somehow feels more balanced than I usually do, to have a wide bottom and a narrow top (it's a cashmere turtleneck, that you saw under a cardi last week). I like the way both fit, but I'm not sure the outfit works - does the colorful belt add enough interest (it's white with colorful polka dots)? What's a good way to 'complete' this outfit?

Feel free to tell me to let go of any of these pieces too
