Just back to say that if you ever need help finding a shoe to match an orthopedic boot and don't mind wearing a sneaker. Head to your local running store. If you have a Fleet Feet, you're in luck! They know their shoes and soles very well. Rockerbottom boot! Rockerbottom shoe! My feet feel pretty much the same now when I take a step and my hips hurt much less!

I'm not saying my foot doesn't hurt. That foot still hurts! Wow! Torn ligaments and fascia are much worse than broken bones! Much worse! (PAIN!)

ETA: I already scratched my boot! It isn't dirt. I tried to clean it off. In 6 weeks this thing is going to look increasingly shabby. I may temporarily adopt a RATE look to match the boot.

Oww!!! I just saw this thread. The outfit is AMAZING - I'm rarely taken by pricier brands, but Ted Baker florals are so gorgeous. Love it with the shoes, and that's the perfect dress cardi.

And then you hurt your foot! What a bummer! I rolled my ankle badly once (missed a step and landed on the side/top of my foot) but it wasn't really injured. I wish it had been the same for you. And I really hope you find some more shoe options that will help you get around easier.

Good idea to investigate shoes (a shoe) that will match it in terms of heel height. It doesn't take many Physio appointments for your wrecked hips to pay for a new pair of shoes!

Good morning Sterling, my foot is still swollen, it hurts still, maybe a bit less, but I'm getting around the house. I'm getting reacquainted with crutches. I have been icing it like crazy. I might try to venture out of the house today for a bit. I want to find some better sneakers to use with the boot. I like the idea of the Brooks, or maybe high top wedges? Something other than what I'm using now which are platform sandals. My gait is too awkward.

Thanks Eliza, there's an excellent running store nearby where I can try the Brooks. I have used Brooks shoes before for running, but I'm not sure about the Addiction. I'm sure they will have some thick soled shoes and walking shoes too. I should have thought of them.

Sorry for your injury. I spent months in the Frankenboot after ankle fracture and complications. I found the Brooks Addiction sneakers to be the right height for the ortho boot. They are stabilizing with a thick sole. Clunky by design, but kept me comfortable and even. As I was non-weight bearing for some of the time, I needed a shoe that did the work of two. Zappos has them in black and white. Don't risk that other foot. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

You rock that Ted Baker dress!

Your outfit is lovely! I'm so sorry about your foot. I would also be upset about trying to plan outfits around a boot and stuck in the same shoes for six weeks. Ugh. I hope that you heal well and time goes quickly for you...

Thanks for the shoe suggestions. It seems that my Ron White patent leather lug sole Navy loafers will work. I'm testing them out around the house. I hope it's true because they're closed toe and would work with most everything.

I have some Shellys London sandals so I will try those too. The more options the better. I think I will go crazy if I have to spend six weeks wearing the same shoe!

The Ted Baker dress looks gorgeous on you. So sorry about the accident and the six weeks. . . .

When I had to wear a Frankenboot, I noticed that the slightest discrepancy in height between my legs gave me horrible, horrible hip pain. I suggest getting a variety of thicknesses of heel lifts and experimenting with any and all footwear that might be the correct height. The Shellys London Bea worked the best for me, and luckily the weather at that time was warm enough for me to wear a sandal. (I have Reynaud's in my toes so I have to be pretty careful about going bare toed.) Tell your skinnies, "See ya later," and break out the cropped flares.

So sorry that you have to wear Frankenboot -- but I hope that you recover fully and can get back to wearing your lovely shoe collection before long. Each boot brand seems to be a bit different as far as lift. When I was booted for a foot injury back a number of years ago, I found that Dansko Professional Clogs were the best height/lift match for my particular boot. Some people use shoe balances that can be worn over athletic shoes. No kidding here -- I think we need to start a thread related to "dressing stylishly around orthopedic casts and braces". I spent half this year wearing a hinged knee brace that made me look like Robocop. :-)

Oh no, you have to wear the boot! I had to wear one when I had foot surgery. No fun. My only advice is to find a shoe with a matching heel height for your other foot so you don't get any back pain. My converse wedge sneakers worked pretty well for that.

I don't know what shoe will be the right height, but if you get desperate you could have a cobbler modify a right shoe by gluing on an additional sole. You have to be willing to sacrifice the shoe because it will no longer be the same height as its mate and thus will be unwearable after you are out of the boot.

Chris987, I'm in a boot for 6 weeks. :-(

Time to start the injured foot/ankle boot thread. Mine is institutional grey. It could use some bling.

For future reference, don't wear a pencil skirt on days you may end up getting a CT scan. Just saying........(I'm sure no one else but me would do that!! )

I read about my injury. If I don't follow the ortho's instructions I may never walk again. - in a regular shoe. There are loads of complications for mid foot ligament tears.

However, he said it looked like this wasn't the first time! Imagine that! A runner who has had a foot injury without knowing it! Those endorphins are very powerful! I swear I felt no pain when I ran marathons. None at all.

Anyone know what shoe matches a grey orthopedic immobilizing boot? The Birkenstock is too low and my hips are wobbly.

Hope your ankle heels quickly...but do what your docs tell you....or it will turn into a permanent bad thing........with your medical training you probably don't need to hear that from me who has none. The sneakers look really cool with that gorgeous dress! I think there needs to be a whole separate style persona for those with foot/ankle injuries....something we can embrace....foot-cast-modern, or ankle-injury-trendy or something., where the outfit starts with footwear as needed and then works up from there.

Thanks everyone. I'm waiting to get a CT scan of my foot. Initial x-rays were suspicious for a possible fracture. Ugh! I hope not! I'm dressed very nicely though! My Birkie outfit is a success! LOL! I'm on crutches and wearing a skirt with Birks.
