Thanks, JR! I don't think hemming it will take care of the issue, unfortunately. I've pinched the shirt up and tucked it up and tried to see where it looks best. It really has too long of a drop from the bottom of my bosom to the point where the hem is for the bottom half of the top.

It is interesting what you learn when you post something. I can tell from my reflexive resistance that I just want to get rid of the top. I think I'll see if my mom wants it. Problem solved.

Studded black leather bracelet. That would take the sweet edge off. ROFL!

I've been following your efforts with interest, seeing as I'm not the greatest fan of pattern mixing. Your subdued take on it has been very nice, and is opening my mind a bit in this area.

And I think you look lovely in both outfits. Could the blouse just be hemmed, if you find it too long?

Thanks, Una. Those are good suggestions. The sweetness of the shirt is really what puts me off too. Too floral, to purple and pink, too frilly. I suspect that I should really just pass it along. I'm not sure that I feel like it is worth the effort to salvage.

The first shirt is very sweet - could you remedy that with a topper like an edgy blazer? I love the pants and the bag.

The second outfit appeals to me much more because it's less sweet and more rocker-edgy. You could add color with a bag for now!

Two more days of baby steps in pattern mixing. I'm really surprised by how much fun I'm having with my snake print bag. I get compliments on it almost every day. Wearability + compliments = definitely a great purchase.

I wore these outfits yesterday and today.

The colorful floral blouse is one that my husband loves. Me, not so much. The frill plus sweet colors feel a little too sweet and I think the cut is okay, but really a little too long in the torso for me. If I had been thinking, I would have bought it in petite instead of regular. I don't think it is bad enough to move to the donate pile, but maybe I should just practice tough love and get rid of it. I love the trousers for their great neutral pattern. It doesn't come through very well in the photo, so I posted a close up. Snake + floral + textured pattern feels like a lot going on, so I didn't wear patterned shoes. They felt like too many small things happening in one outfit. The shoes I wore look black in the photo, but they are actually a nice taupe. Baby steps in pattern mixing!

The second outfit has a blouse that I fell in love with when Emily posted it. I hope she bought it, because it is definitely fun. I think the outfit looks nice, but could use a little color. My fuchsia wedges were too much, though. Plum would look nice, I think. I plan to wear the top with plum jeans this fall, but I'm in the wear it now club, so I broke the top out early. The tank is sewn in at the straps, but maybe I should cut it free and substitute a plum one?

Looking forward to comments and suggestions!
