Thnx everyone for the feedback!

BJ, the rest of brooches are nature themed, and at first I wasn't sure about the cameo, but it ended up growing on me too.

Deborah, I don't mind being called adorable or cute; I made my peace with that awhile ago. lol

Suz, these feel fairly hefty; the taupe ones less so. I just checked & the jeans are mainly cotton with a bit of polyster and 2% spandex while the taupe ones are only half cotton, 30% rayon, 2% spandex and the rest polyster. So it must be the rayon that makes the difference. The taupe colour is lovely though!

Word Lily, the happiness factor was high! I felt a bit like a Victorian governess, with the prim blouse and cameo, but I doubt a governess would approve of my jeans fit. hehe

Another great outfit! How was the happiness factor? A bit less color and bling than normal (although there are nice details, as you mentioned), but comfort was at a high, it seems.

What Deborah said! And Aida's right -- the column of colour helps with the rolled hems. The jeans look fabulous. The ones I tried on there were just too stretchy or something -- I like my denim to feel more substantial. But oh -- I am on the hunt for taupe jeans....would love some that fit as well as these fit you!

Love the simple silhouette and the close-up detail!

this is really well done.

i first, i didn't like the brooch, but in the end i think it really brings a retro touch that is still minimalist like the outfit.

Simplicity is beautiful as your outfit shows! I love anything that reminds me of Anne Shirley (I went on a pilgrimage to Cavendish, PEI, just last year), and your brooch at the neckline is a little Gibson girl too

Gracie, they're Urban Outfitters BDG in the high waist rise. They've got quite a bit of stretch in them but they're like magic jeans that don't bag out (almost all my trousers bag out in the rear after a couple of wearings if not by the end of the day). I air dry them so I don't know if that's helped. I went up a size: my waist measures 24/25" but these are a 26 and I wouldn't want anything snugger. I noticed you have bluebonnets as your picture too: they're one of my favourite things about living in Texas. :D

Aida, you've inspired me to try this with a few different shoe options to see if I can achieve a sassy shoe-ish look. Shoes are hard for me so I just kind of gave up on trying to find a pair that would elevate an outfit. But I do have a couple that might work!

Thanks everyone! Pil & Carter, as soon as a pair pops up on ebay in my size and rise in a wash that I like I'll definitely be duplicating. I'd love a medium wash, but most of the ones I've seen have weird distressing, probably because this is a juniors brand. I do have a pair of taupe ones in a very similar style (and the same brand) that I love too but they don't fit quite as well (different fabric content=waist sags a bit by end of the day). Sadly I live in such a hot climate I can only wear these from November through March which is why I haven't duplicated yet. But I'll be moving next year to a cooler climate! Yay!

Cute, those are some nicely fitting jeans! The shoes look like a good choice for dog walking; if you were going somewhere a bit more glamorous (say dinner ^^) you could always pop on sassier shoes. I know leg lengthening isn't a priority for you, but I have to say sporting the column of color PLUS the tonal shoes works really well with the rolled hems.

Nice! I know I'm usually happier with a simpler outfit. Even though your shoes may be more casual, you are adapting Angie's simple outfit concept to your needs. Maybe these jeans are something you should duplicate?

I found Angie's post this week on simplicity (http://youlookfab.com/2013/11/.....implicity/) very thought-provoking, as I frequently disguise a less than perfect fit with distractions. Usually I enjoy piling up little details to make an outfit, but today I decided to try a simple one instead. It got warm again (high of 77/25 today) so I started with a lightweight blouse whose fit I love and that was a simple solid dark navy. I paired it with my best fitting trousers, which are these skinny jeans: I never have to adjust them during the day, they fit my waist and hips perfectly, and the rise hits just where it's most comfortable. By coincidence, they were also dark navy so I ended up monochrome (unusual for me). I couldn't resist adding a brooch, and a tiny ring and bracelet, but other than that I kept it simple. Barefoot at home, I put on my comfortable Aurora Shoe Co navy shoes for dog walking: they are high quality (hand stitched in the US, thick leather) but probably more casual than what Angie was describing in her post.

I really enjoyed this outfit: I was comfortable all day (not adjusting anything!) and the small details on the blouse (buttons in the back which you can kind of see in the blurry photo, and puffed sleeves which always make me think of Anne Shirley) gave me enough just interest. It didn't photograph the best, though, what with the dark colour swallowing up details. Also, I had to photograph in a hurry so I look a bit awkward! hehe
