Ag - what about buffing the logo off (or at least downplaying it) with sandpaper? Cover the area around it with that blue painting tape and mattify the metal!

Thank you, ladies! I appreciate all the suggestions and solutions. My more broken-in bootcuts don't do this as much, so it must be some combo of hem length/angle and material. I'll just chalk it up to RATEness and move on!

IK, the logo can't be removed - it's sort of embedded into the leather so I'd be risking damage. It's not that big and I'm not that worried about it, although I know it's an eyesore to some. I'm not a fan of logos (like the Tory Burch boots have) but these are filling a hole and weren't pricey, so if I spot the perfect pair I'll replace them one day!

Bootcuts do that. If it bothers you fold the front hem up and tack it. I sometimes do this to the *back* hem if they fit everywhere else but drag behind.

You can remove the HD logo, right? I'd think so.

You look great and your jeans look totally natural to my eye! Maybe I'm used to the wrinkles or something?

Wasn't that the jacket from that blog with the plaid suit? Did you also get the Zara plaid pants?

Glad you kept the boots, it sounds like they are going to fill the Rockport hole nicely :-)

ETA: The angled hemming is almost always done for mens' pants, so they get long enough in back without too much break in front. I've had some jeans hemmed with it too, when I know I'll be wearing flatter shoes.

I think you look great! I'm not sure what's causing the jeans to wrinkle. Maybe they are slightly too long for the boots you're wearing or maybe it's the type of shoe, as others have mentioned. You could try experimenting with different shoes and see how they affect how the jeans hang.

Jeans should be hemmed to hang correctly with a particular heel height-either flats OR heels, though some lengths work OK with both a flat and a low heel. You might try having a tailor look at them-to my eye they look like they need hemming. I love a bootcut myself, but hemming is critical, and I only wear my bootcuts with the heel heights they were hemmed for. This is not an expensive fix, and well worth it.

I think you look terrific and the boot cuts look good to me! I think you are feeling unwell so it's clouding your judgement. I do see a little folding but that always happens when you wear chunky boots that are not super high heeled. It's because your foot and boot are in the way. If you are wearing a 4" non chunky pump, you will not see any folds because your foot is arched and not getting in the way of the hem.

I think the way boot cuts have folds is just like the way skinnies scrunch. Part of the charm. If you want a completely fold-free look, you could go for a wider leg or a super flare where you are guaranteed your foot will disappear.

My bootcuts do this, too. It definitely has to do with the lower heel. My bootcuts only really hang straight on a 4" heel. Kind of drives me crazy, too, for the same reasons. I'm wondering if angling the hem to be shorter in front would help at all.

Well, you can also look at it this way: Taken to an extreme, the bootcuts+high heels could result in the "my pants ate my shoes" look, for which I have poison eye. So all in all, I'd rather have the wrinkling.

Diana, that sounds very scientifically plausible! I figured bootcuts would work best with boots, but what do I know? I guess I'm going to have to live with it, or I could wear them with my Danso Ryders.

The new plaid blazer is fantastic and your legs look really long in the bootcuts! The same thing happens to me with bootcuts and wide trousers. I suspect Tanya is right and it has to do with the shoes. Neither you nor I wears the kind of shoes (like pumps or boots with high heel and very thin front sole) that would make the pants hang straight down. My 3" "high" boots have a 1.5" platform in front, so my hem always hits the front of the shoe, and even something like my Docs (which have 2" heel) have a significantly thick sole (if not a real platform) at the front of the shoe. A true 3" heel with no platform would give you more room between the hem and front of shoe, plus your foot is more angled so more of it would be under the hem rather than sticking out, if that makes any sense.

Thanks Tanya! You always look so sleek in your bootcuts - you were one of my inspirations for trying them. The jeans don't really touch the boots (which are fitted) but you may be right that the shaft takes up enough volume to prevent a smooth hanging leg line. Or the denim may be too stiff right now... I feel like a higher heel will result in lack of PPL, but I could try.

Donna, you are so sweet and you are probably right - it's just the pictures that drive me crazy. I felt sleek and comfortable otherwise.

You look great and I can't tell you have a cold. It is drape that I see and not wrinkles. Higher heels will cause pants to hang straighter. My bootcuts will never hang straight because my heels are never very high AND my fat thighs create horizontal width so the legs can't hang directly over my toes AND my bow legs make them hang a bit wonky anyway. I have no doubt that you jeans hang beautifully and perfectly IRL and especially when you are in motion.

First of all, I hope you get better soon!

The outfit is great and it's a nice change to see you in bootcuts. While I can not tell a reason they are wrinkling 9 which is very subtle btw.) for sure, my guess would be that it has to do with the wideness of the bootcut vs. opening on the booties. That is, if you were to wear some pumps ( no worries, I know you do not wear such shoes) that the denim would hang better. Maybe try them with your sleekest shoes and see how that looks. And maybe it is just the way you are standing in the photograph, do they do the same when you move?

So DH and I both got the kiddo's cold, but I had to be up early for an all-day conference. It was a casual group so I wore my old Joe's Jeans bootcuts with my new Zara plaid blazer.

Why do bootcuts look so wrinkled up on me on the bottom (see blurry second photo)? These really are PPL and seem fine in the mirror, but I can't stand the way they photograph all bunchy and off. Tanya, Lisa and other bootcut gals always have such a long smooth leg line. Is it because these are a stiffer dark denim? It drives me CRAZY.

Also, I kept the Harley-Davidsons, which I'm wearing here. I know the logo bothered some people, and it's not ideal, but these are otherwise so much like my beloved old Rockports that I just went with them. They were SUPER comfortable all day and I think they are going to be a workhorse.

Feedback and bootcut help welcome!
