Yay for new thrift store finds! I go thrifting with my sister too and always come back with fun stuff. I like the dress and think the length looks fine as is, but it will also look good lengthened an inch or two.

Thanks you all! I think my problem with the first outfit is more one of confidence. I noticed part way through shopping that I had a pink stain on the front of my shirt. So I wore it backwards the rest of the day, but wondered what other extreme frumpiness I had missed! (And sadly, when treating the stain, I noticed two small holes, so that was this tops last wearing).

And I agree that the problem with the black dress probably is more one of proportions. I'll probably lengthen it too - but try it with some shorter jackets as well (picked up a cropped red velvet jacket that might work...)

The houndstooth jacket is a lightweight jersey knit. It has lots of ruching (sp? gathered spots) and zips up. It's a Joseph Ribkoff brand.

Thank you so much for your feedback and votes of confidence! And hmm... I need to add black booties to my list.

I really like the casual outfit and it doesn't bother me at all that the greens don't match - the outfit as a whole works really well.

The dress with the jacket is lovely but agree that maybe a little longer for the dress might make it a bit more versatile.

Nice haul! I love the olive jacket in the first picture, it almost looks like a coat, so it doesn't have to actually "match" your top and pants (which I also like). For your church outfit, again, very nice. I wonder if swapping the shoes out for some boots would change the proportions enough to leave the dress at that length? It looks cold enough where you live to break out some boots! Brrrrrrr!

The thrift store shopping outfit is lovely - in fact, I spent a long time looking at it and wonderful why you might not have liked it, it is so pleasing to the eye. I like the blues and the greens of the clothing, and the touch of red in the bag is just the ticket too.

Sounds like you came home with a lot of goodies from the thrift store - that's terrific, and I am looking forward to seeing your finds.

I really like the church outfit. You have slender legs and can totally pull off the length, but like others have said, I think it might be little more a case of playing with the proportions, to see what makes you feel fab. I think you already look fab! ETA - Tracey is right about lengthening it for versatility, I think!

I'm with Deb and Manidipa - It's a personal quirk and the shoes are gorgeous, but I struggle with extreme black and white combinations in the footwear department. In fact, I am wondering how shoes of some other color (perhaps to match your bag, or red shoes with the red bag that you have in the previous picture) or black patterned or microfishnets might look...

I love the contrast between the greens in the shirt and jacket and think that look is wonderful... no change needed.

Love the cut of the jacket in your church outfit and who doesn't love houndstooth. As for the skirt length I like it with the dark tights, but think it will be a problem to wear it without the tights. I think versatility is important, so agree you should lengthen it. And can't forget to mention those shoes, fabulous!

I think your thrift store outfit was great, you looked very slim in it. I think the long shirt was a good proportion for you. That dress and jacket were cute. I find nothing wrong with the length, especially since it shows off your slim legs. It looks good with tights. Still if you're uncomfortable I think 1-2 " would be fine.

I *love* your shopping outfit, and I too wouldn't change a thing. It's harmonizing rather than clashing to my eye.

With the dress, I don't feel the dress is too short in terms of showing off your legs (flattering length there, actually, I think) --- rather, I feel the jacket's length calls for the dress to be longer or maybe the jacket could be swapped for more of a cropped one for this shorter dress.

Like Deborah, I too am a bit distracted by the white of the shoes with the dark hose, though it could in part be influenced by the low lighting. Maybe the hose is more sheer in RL?

I love #1 and you look very relaxed and lovely in it. Would you say this is quite reflective of your casual style?

I agree the dress in #2/3 could be a bit longer. But you do have lovely slender legs:)
Those shoes are gorgeous, however I struggle a bit with the black opaque hose and the shoes having so much white. Im not saying it doesnt look good, it just my preference. I do think this would look awesome with black booties as an alternative.

Can you tell us about the jacket? Does it zip up? Its very cool.

Well first of all - your thrift shopping outfit is aDORable on you! I wouldn't change a thing about it - you look great in it! I also really like the church outfit - that jacket is fabulous - and the way you paired it with the black and white shoes is perfect! As far as the length of the dress goes - I'd probably try lengthening it just an inch or two, even though you've got the legs to pull it off at this short length as well. The longer length is a more updated look than the shorter length.
Can't wait to see all of your thrift store goodies over the next few days!

Sounds like a fun shopping trip!

Your legs look great, but like you I would probably want to lengthen the skirt a bit. I think the proportions will be better that way. It could be a useful item for you.

As for today's outfit, I think it's cute! The clashing greens sort of appeal to me here, though I'm not sure why.

I wore this outfit (#1) thrift store shopping with my sister on Friday. She's a marvelous enabler, and I came home with 16 or so new-to-me items that I actually paid for. (The total was $45).

So, I wasn't super thrilled with the thrift store outfit - what needs changing about it? The greens don't match between the t-shirt and jacket, should they?

And today, I got to wear a dress and jacket that she found for me to church. I may give a shot to lengthening the dress (a black shirt dress) - I think I'd be more comfortable and look better in a skirt about 2-3" longer. But I liked the look anyway. Does it work? Would it work better with a longer skirt, or do I just need to get used to my legs?

You'll be seeing more of my finds over the next few days.....
