Hot days are my least favorite thing to dress for, so I understand! What about a belt? Or maybe just some dangly earrings (I prefer them to necklaces in the hot summertime) or a bracelet to add a little life to the black tee? I like Manidipa's idea of a black (or white) tank with a light chambray shirt over it, almost like a jacket. And I think a light or white tee might be more comfy than black in the heat, too.

On really hot days I think getting out the door in anything is to be applauded :)
I think you did well. The only suggestion is for maybe a cuff or bangle - they are the only pieces of jewellery I can wear in the heat.

I've had a few of those pesky skirts! Even Angie acknowledges that finding the right top for a skirt can be harder than picking partners for pants.

I think you look good as is, but would you perhaps like to consider a third layer as inner rather than topper? Would that perhaps add more excitement for you? Like, say, a black tank with a chambray shirt worn open (maybe belted) over it? Or maybe a silvery open-weave knit on top to pick up on the band at the hem, with a blue or black camisole under it?

Or of course, you might want to just add a necklace to pick up the colours in the skirt a bit --- does that sound more your style?

Looks good for a hot day buy I hear ya, so much more fun to add a topper and what not.
I think you should play around with that skirt. Try with a light blue or white top. Maybe even something with the same colors and a pattern mix.

Hot days are so difficult to dress for! I think you did very well. that skirt is made to be paired with denim and the jacket would have been the perfect addition if it had been cool enough to wear it. You might try tucking the tee although it may be too hot for tucking. I find a denim vest very helpful as a layer for hot weather to add a little something to an outfit.

It was scorchingly hot today - seriously! And we overslept so I didn't have too much time to get dressed before hubby was tut-tutting at the door. We had plans to spend the morning shopping for Back-to-School supplies for new school year which starts next week. And I didn't have too many options for clothes as the ironing pile was sky high and my beloved cleaning lady only returned today. So having said all that, I didn't love the way I looked today. My hair was a mess (didn't have time to straighten it) and I find this skirt, as much as I really love it, really difficult to dress. The only thing that works with it it seems to be a black T or tank top and my denim jacket or black cardi if the day is cool enough to warrant a sleeve. Oh and I so need new black ballet pumps. These have seen better days but they are the most comfortable I have for walking in!

So... Having said all that, what would you have done differently?
