So funny! I agree the blazer is fab, but I still felt really unlike myself in the chocolate brown. I perused my closet to reconfirm the fact I have little in this shade. I have one winter jacket and that is it, and I admittedly have a fairly extensive wardrobe.</p> <p>As for the brown, it's guessing it must be an emotional reaction, as I can objectively see that the shade works with my colouring. Though when you see me in taupe you will understand my terror. I believe my colour coordination is the weakest aspect of my dressing, I'm just not very adventurous there (and slightly inept). I would take way more risk with pattern, shape etc. Love all the colour combos everyone suggested. I'm going to try it next with a great lavender blouse I have.</p> <p>The bag is Balenciaga, I got it at Holt Renfrew here in Canada. And I agree, the Smythe blazers are just too beautiful for words. The sizing can be a bit inconsistent, but I don't think they are fitting as small as they used to (so Nicole you should give them another try if you see them in person). The brown one here is actually TTS. If you've been sticking with warm tones, maybe that's why you haven't been in love with brown? </p> <p>I love brown with pinks, from raspberry to fuchsia to light pink. Purple, especially lavender. Blue. Light blue looks great on many brunettes and is a great color to go with brown. To me, he colors paired with brown need to be either intense or light. It's the dark color pairings that are often duds in my experience.</p> <p>I generally avoid brown with green because it looks to camouflagey on me (since I'm a blond). Your pairing looks very nice, though. I was in complete agreement with everything she wrote, right down to her colour preferences. For myself, I feel so very drab when I wear brown. I'm super pale and have brown hair and brown eyes, perhaps that explains it. Or it could be an emotional reaction to the colour itself.</p> <p>I have a friend who recently gave a few pieces of clothing to me, because she too has the same problem. No love for brown, and that was the common theme with all these great clothes. I hadn't worn any of them yet and I was inspired to give it a try thanks to Shannon's post. She gave me this amazing unworn Smythe blazer, it's impeccably made. It's a chocolate brown which I wear so rarely I didn't even know what to pair it with. Almost everything in my closet is a cool or pure shade. </p> <p>So I went kind of matchy-matchy which is unlike me. Rag &amp; Bone brown boots, which I rarely wear but really like. And a brown bag which I use quite often. The blue scarf made the outfit feel a little more like me, though I'm not one who necessarily gravitates to scarves at all. I wore a green Helmut Lang shirt. I'm not sure if this worked given the asymmetrical shape or the colour.</p> <p>I am so happy that I'm branching out into different options and utilizing more of my wardrobe since discovering YFL. Thanks for the inspiration Shannon! And thanks for taking a peek, any feedback is more than welcome. </p>
