The sweater's color change brings the eye up, highlights your waist, and is more interesting than either blue with white or navy with white. Hiking up the skirt worked great, too. I have the same fit issue with skirts. Often they fit my hips and thighs only when pulled up up up, but I have to start with a midi or I end up with a mini!
