For some reason I always felt like, with the red hair, I looked like Strawberry Shortcake (which is completely irrational and weird because I never felt that way about wearing the color red).</p> <p>In the last decade or so I've found my aversion to pink dissipating and have actually been drawn to some pieces in various shades of pink,&nbsp;from pale to salmon to hot.</p> <p>These 80's vintage Anne Klein couture booties were one such piece. I bought them in a thrift store in Boston probably a decade ago (and had nothing to wear with them at the time).</p> <p>Now they get much more regular play because I love the "smack you in the face" hot pink of them. They are perfect for adding a pop of color (and they're very comfortable, to boot!).</p> <p>Paired them yesterday with a somewhat colorful but simple outfit of BF jeans and a knit blazer (with hot pink striped accents)&nbsp;and added some antique jewelry to the mix. </p> <p>This included&nbsp;one of my favorite necklaces. It is a Victorian rose gold and peridot necklace made with actual scarab beetles --yes, dead beetles. This type of jewelry&nbsp;was very popular in the victorian to early art deco era). Most folks think they're stones of some kind. Nope. They're dead bugs.
