There's some really interesting insights :-)

I never really thought much about what's acceptable in my office...I've been here since I was in uni, and my style has evolved in this environment. I used to be very, very boring in what I wore...but in about the last 6 months have really kicked things up a notch thanks to YLF.

There are 3 other women in our entire organization. One is a Russian lady, always impecaably but conservatively dressed. The other is an Indian lady, again, always conservatively dressed (although lately I've noticed she is kicking up her outfits a notch too - maybe my influence??? :-P). And the last lady is in her 50s and pretty conservative, she always compliments me on my outfits (especially accessories). I have also noticed she is wearing more makeup and jewelry to the office and I'd like to think it's my influence!

I agree, maybe this skirt is just too short. There are a lot of men, I've never had a problem but then I've not taken much notice as I don't care what most of them think! But I think I'll reconsider this one.

The general style in the office ranges from super conservative business (Managing Director) to jeans/shirt/Cons (my direct supervisor and my male team mate), to really daggy t shirt and jeans (the software developers).

Thanks for the input ladies

This is a great outfit. But in my office the skirt would have to be an inch above the knee or less to fit into business casual and the flowers would have to be a more subdued color.

In my office it'd be fine...and I do think the outfit is fantastic. Are there any other women in your office? Do they wear short skirt lengths?

What a fun skirt! I love it! My office doesn't really have a dress code- if I had the legs for it, I would wear a skirt like that

Cool look...it's nice reinterpretation of my beloved 80s:)

The skirt would be much too short for my work environment though, even with tights or leggings.

Lovely interpretation! I think I would feel more comfortable wearing this outfit with opaque tights, but you have amazing gams, so flaunt them!

I live in a corporate city. Federal government is our main industry. On a style show here in my city someone who was supposed to be an expert on such matters said that if your skirt is more than one hand width (place your hand sideways on the top of the kneecap) above the kneecap that it's too short for a conservative office type situation. Same holds true for the top. One handwidth (sp) from the little dent in your neck to the top of the neckline at most.

This was only last year so it's not considered an "old" rule. Again, very conservative business offices though.

Perhaps Angie could chime in and see if there are any real "rules".

Love the outfit however, and the skirt colors are great! You do color very well!

Wow! You look great - young, hip and very fun! Love the entire outfit. However, any office that I've ever worked in, the skirt would be considered toooooo short - even with leggings. But, if you can get away with it, I say You Go Girl!

Love those little purple booties. My office experience is a school so I couldn't wear a skirt that short without leggings but I think if it suits your office environment go for it x

Love you photos! You always show all the details of your outfit!
It's a lovely outfit, very trendy.. too trendy for an office, in my opinion, too much leg and I would prefer a skirt with no flowers.

Lol! Yeah I see what you mean I'm in marketing so there's a bit more room to move...the hose makes it decent to my eyes. I would probably avoid wearing it sans hose. I also usually wear it with taller boots.

What does everyone else think? Is this too short for the office? I feel quite comfortable in it and certainly don't have any "sit down" issues! I always wear with hose too.

I think you look awesome, but I have to admit I get a little woozy thinking of it as "business casual!" Definitely too much leg for the legal environment that I'm used to!! But... you do indeed look awesome!

I was inspired by Angie's tunic cardigan post a couple of weeks ago:
http://youlookfab.com/2010/09/.....ess-codes/

This is my interpretation of the 3rd formula (pictured below for reference):
"Business Casual — Cardigan over blouse with a pencil skirt: This is a business casual outfit and its shown with a tucked-in blouse and belted cardigan."

I swapped the blouse for a fitted, high necked knit top with ruffles. I like this top because it is very fitted whilst comfy, high-necked so it is modest enough for the office, and I enjoy the texture of the ruffles!

This is one of my favourite skirts right now too.

I decided to keep the accessories fun, with geometric pink earrings, black patent waisat cinching belt and spotted hose. I added my purple suede booties in for fun :-)

I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this outfit!
