Thanks, Marley.

I agree about the leg-line. I folded the pant leg once because I didn't like how they sat with the Docs under them.

I have a credit at a local shoe store, and some time this afternoon, so I'll take a look for different shoes. I've been in utilitarian wear for so long, it is hard for me to experiment, but that is the only way I'll learn/realize what will work for me.

My hair has layers in it, but it was still damp in the photos. During my last hair cut, I asked the stylist to keep the layers less extreme as I thought about my next hair move. I attached a photo from late last year. I grew it longer and had it layered differently over the summer, and it started to form soft ringlets. It was great as long as I could take care of it, but it was some effort (nightly brushing with a natural brush to spread the oils, regular olive oil treatments, limited shampooing) and was the same look every day. At some point, it started behaving differently, I had less time, and I couldn't figure out what to do differently, so I started to pull it back more and think about cutting it. I think I need to start collecting photos of hair styles that worked for me in the last couple of years, plus other wavy-ish hair styles, and go from there.

What a great color combination! Light Blue and Red (together) was on the runway last fall so you are very on trend! ;-)
I think that if you just pulled the bottom of the blue sweater down just a bit that it would work well with jeans/pants. I want the jeans to be just a little bit longer to extend your leg-line - but that's just my personal preference. I think it would be really a fun way to "expand" your wardrobe by getting yourself a pair of more refined shoes - dark to bookend your hair - or cognac to warm up your outfit.
Your hair looks really healthy and bouncy. I can't tell from the photos, but is it all one length or are there layers in it? You might want to consider some layers to give it more fullness?

Thanks for the thoughts. The blue does seem a bit icy. The sweater looks shorter in the picture than it actually is. I think it stuck to my cami, if that makes sense. I've deemed that I should just probably layer on top of it instead of under. It is shorter than I am accustomed to. I had intentionally looked for something on the shortish side so I might pair it with a skirt. Later in the day, I added a belt and semi-tucked. Then added my burgundy cardigan. Then I changed to my relaxed skinnies. lol.

I think I'd feel better with a more refined shoe, but that will take me into unfamiliar ground. Docs are what I know and am comfortable with, but I haven't really experimented either.

A lovely color palette. Is the blue cooler? Can't tell if it's the lighting or not, but to me the sweater reads a little icy (which makes the color pop off of you, if that makes any sense). I also think that the sweater might be a bit short for pants, which could also contribute to what you were feeling when the coat was off. My personal preference would be for a more refined shoe, but that's just my own tastes; a daintier or more refined shoe would skew the look more classic and less rugged. But the Docs look good, and if you're happy with the more masculine vibe then that's what's important. They certainly look great for rompin around!

I like this outfit, esp. with the burgundy shoes. If you want another pair of pointy shoes, I think that would work well - but I think this is a perfect "mom on the go" outfit.

Building on my current small fall micro-capsule and trying a new color...

Gap merino sweater

Red coat, Docs, and white jeans from earlier

Number 3 is auto-adjusted since the photo was overexposed.

I like the colors on me. As I play with all my clothes, I continue to realize all the wardrobe holes. Without the coat, I think this particular combination highlights my hips and chest a little too much, but I don't have any long necklaces or scarfs that work for this. Maybe a V-neck blazer or jacket? I need one of those too, although I could wear my J crew "burgundy" (more like deep red) cardigan. Luckily, today is much warmer than the last few days and I could get back into my wool red coat.

I'm also going back and forth about whether I want or need another pair of shoes for something like this vs. just wearing the docs. Dark brown or black to bookend my hair? Cognac to be warmer? Pointy toe to balance the more masculine aspects of my dressing? Oxford or bootie?

And my hair? It is still wet in this photo. I'm wondering about cutting it shorter or not. Pre-kids, I sported a pixie, but my hair became much wavier and less obedient post kids. I was growing it out until a couple of months ago. I can get some nice curls, but I was getting tired of the length and wanted something sleeker. I had it cut a tad shorter to help me decide which direction to take it. Maybe I can just pull it back when I want sleek.

Anyway, I am mostly just noting things as I work through things, but feedback is welcome.
