Thanks Marley, the red boots are a deep dark red. The boots are made by Aquatalia, and I bought them last year (I think). These are definitely my favorite pair of shoes/boots. If someone said I could only keep 5 pairs of shoes, they would be on the top of the list.

I like the idea of a patterned scarf to go with my leather skirt outfit. I actually don't have one in these colors. I have stopped making purchases for fall/winter, but if I see an accessory like a scarf or a belt to help tie what I already have together I would make the purchase.

Thanks for commenting on my hair color Marley and Shevia. It makes me laugh to know that I have changed my hair color 14 times in the past 2 years! The changes have been subtle sometimes, but I finally feel like it's where it should be.

Now that I know my colors, and have my hair color correct, I'm ready for my next big project, which is looking for new glasses.....

Unfrumped, I went back and forth on the belt. Just like you, belts are forever tricky for me to pick, and I usually teat out more than one before getting it right. In this case I had around six belts out and scattered around. I don't have a wide belt but have been hunting for one. I picked this thin belt for a silly reason. I knew that if I decided to take it off part way through the day, it wouldn't take up much space in my purse. Not exactly a fashion choice, but it was practical. :-)

Suz, I see myself becoming more minimal with my accessories. Fewer bangles, less bling to my necklaces. I am definitely being influenced by YLF in this direction. Maybe I need to think along the same lines with belts - as long as my pants will stay up!

I am not sure this cardi lends itself well to belting. It has a very straight silhouette. Perhaps that was the issue? It's nice and warm because it's silk. Both outfits were warm, and I would repeat 1 as is, two I need to tweek somehow. Perhaps unbutton the sweater and eliminate the belt?

Both outfits look terrific. I would also try the second without the belt. Totally agree you have found your hair color!

The leather skirt and the red boots (are they more burgandy than red?) are just absolutely gorgeous! Love both of those items and IMO they should be allowed to shine in each outfit - which is pretty much what you have done! I love the casualness and the fit of the chambray shirt and think it is perfect the way you have it tucked into the skirt. Also - the boots beautiful. That color of scarf is also really great on you - is it really red? I might think about wearing a scarf that is patterned with the colors of your outfit (black and blue) rather than introducing another color (red) to the outfit - but this certainly works on you! And the boots in the 2nd pic - I WANT! Love them! I agree with those who say they'd try it without a belt - try it unbuttoned so that we can get a glimpse of the dress. Or try it with a wide belt that blends into the color of the cardi.

Two really great outfits that not only keep you warm, but are stylish and very flattering on you.

Also - your hair color really brings out the color of your eyes and gives all of your features more definition and depth. I think you and you're hairstylist are on to something with this color!

That skirt is just amazing on you. What a great purchase. I love the whole outfit. I need to get some more merino tights, too -- I only have one pair of sweater tights and they are grey. Which is fine, but I could use some other colours.

I am with Lisa P on #2. Great outfit; my minimalist nature would simply leave off the belt.

I like both outfits a lot- and just wouldn't bother belting the cardigan. It doesn't seem to add anything to the look by doing so, and the dress is lovely so why not let it show? Great tights and red boots too!

I can't belt cardis. I use a giant steampunky safety pin from Allsaints that came with a sweater when I need closure. Fab boots and love the skirt and chambray.

STILL love that skirt. The chambray shirt is terrific. The fit is good, to my eye--a bit of ease to look more relaxed with the slimmer skirt, but not too poufy. The boots look good with it and it's not too much hoochie leather--the shirt also helps with that juxtaposition. Very fab.
I like the dress and cardi--looks like a good sweater dress combo. I see the belt issue and feel like there could be something different but not sure what. Maybe you need a darker belt, solid black, for the tweedy color. Probably could be a little wider, too. Need to ponder. Myself I will get dressed and plan to add a belt and soon there will be a dozen belts scattered--there always seems to be more this, more that, too wide, too stiff, when it ought to be easy. I love belts still, though.

It has been freezing here in CNY! We are expecting a big storm over the next few days. I still wanted to look polished and feminine while staying warm. I pulled out my merino tights. There aren't many choices for color in my collection, I have cobalt blue, red, grey, green and brown. They are nice and warm though. Paired with a leather skirt and some tall boots, they are extra warm. I found an inspiration picture of a lace pencil skirt and a chambray shirt. I have a lace pencil skirt, but it's too cold for that, so the leather is a stand-in. The infinity scarf was a last minute addition for warmth. I like these brown Aquatalia boots. They have no heel and are very comfortable.

The second pic is of me wearing a Vince sheath I bought at NAS (now on even better discount). I put at Eileen Fisher long sweater over the top, belted it (not entirely sure I love the belt), and wore my favorite red patent leather "go go boots". They remind me of the white ones I had as a kid. They are so much better though because they are red, weather proof, and they manage to go with just about everything.

The third pic is a close up of me since I went to the hair stylist and had my hair color adjusted again just a little. It's easier to see close up than in the distant shots. I'm happy with it now. I think this will be my color. It's a single process which is easier on my hair.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking!
