Ladywone, actually I fear that may not be the case as most of my tops are longer...I tend to tunics and this one is actually supposed to be a crop on a taller frame. And this is a thought to consider as I had hoped to split them up as Beth Ann says... But then my primary interest was wearing them together. And this then means I still need another skirt to go with everything else in the capsule I was building... Thanks for reminding me to consider this angle too.

Angie, thanks for getting back. I see what you are saying.

I think the shorter version does not overwhelm your frame. It also would give you more styling options when you use them as separates.

I think you drown a little in the longer length in this particular style of two-piece dress. If the skirt or top were more structured, the length would not be problematic. FWIW, that's what I see.

Hmm, almost an even split between preference of the shorter and longer lengths! Though of course Angie's vote maybe counts as first amongst equals! I am still unsure myself...

The longer may be more practical, like Marcy says, for me, and more typical of me as Alaesse pointed out, but I quite like the two-third proportion from the shorter length as well.

@Angie, would you say shorter is more current in proportion or more conventionally flattering? That reasoning may be what I need to make up my mind

I think I like this best at the original length, although I'm not good at proportions. I really love this top piece dress on you.
When my children were small I had some breezy viscose unlined pants and top for summer. I machine washed on delicate and put in the dryer to humble for 5-10 minutes on no heat, then hung to dry. I didn't iron. The slight overall wrinkles were texture that I liked. No clinging to the body. If yo decide to shorten the skirt, be sure to wash first as it may shrink up just a little if you don't iron it.

I've noticed that the editorial stafff on websites and in catalog divisions seem to be asleep at the wheel. There are a lot of obvious errors in the details and product specs. So sorry this happened to you!

I love the idea of a two piece dress so much I've been contemplating making one. They can be worn together or broken up. I hope that the print will make any wrinkling less noticeable.

This is a very cool two piece dress, Mani!
Viscose may be more of a pain to wash, but it does have nice drape. I'd be curious to see what the skirt would look like pinned up to a shorter length, but I think I prefer it as is. This length should give you easier mobility without worrying about exposure if you're wrangling a toddler or sitting on the floor.

Neel, good point, especially for the top! Cotton would not collapse back or flow like this. In fact, wearing this in front of the mirror I just realised I had a very similar outfit back when I was a teenager of 13 or 14 in a red-white-and-brown madras check...

Shevia, ha! Ditto. Preferably on sale.

Echo, thanks. I quite like it too... it's just that I chose this skirt over another just because of fabric content. so... annoying. not a deal breaker as it was a top contender.

rabbit, viscose is more breathable than say polyester but less so than cotton or linen. that's therefore not my big concern especially with a roomy and breezy shape. it is the ironing. This one will hold wrinkles and I honestly haven't much time for ironing or steaming out wrinkles... I outsource the ironing to little wayside 'shops' that use the old-fashioned hot coal-filled kind... meaning I can't with this as it would melt.

My mother's day gift is just a bit wrinkled out of the box. new coordinated top and skirt, or as Angie would say, a two-piece dress.

Boxy but intentional. a bit cropped but not v short on little old me. However, disappointed that it is all viscose and not cotton as the website claimed. Since customer service not great here, not expecting reply ler alone restitution though have written the online store (Dorothy Perkins only retail through this one third-party website in India).

Thanks so much to the fabbers who helped me figure out sizing. It seems they run a bit smaller than other brands I am used to, notably the other big UK brand here, M&S.

ETA: Should I shorten the skirt to nearer the knee?
