Hi Alasse,

I love your style. It is so beautiful and calm, very feminine, demure, and I want to show off your little waist! I have chosen a skirt that I think is the type that could be a workhorse. It comes in an olive color that I would usually prefer, but the blue-black onyx draws me in more and seems like it would be a great fit for your retro autumn wardrobe. It's from Madewell and for some reason I couldn't collect it. Sorry!

I always enjoy seeing your looks. You really pick things that suit you.

I love the floral skirt. I like how you styled it but a couple of other options could be a peplum ( not too frilly) or a tank with a denim jacket.

I love the shirts too and second that they could work with wool tights.

Thanks for your vote of confidence, Dee!

Thank you, Sara L. It's nice to "see" you again, too. I hope life & kids are doing well? Your little guy must be pretty big by now.

I'm sure the lack of shoes bugs more people than just you. Since I'm home most of the time, I prefer bare feet (or socks in winter) on floors. Let's see, what I would be wearing if outside: for #1, oxfords with no-show socks; #2, flat sandals; #3, oxfords with low socks; #4, flat sandals; #5, flat sandals; #6, flat sandals. (Attached pictures of footwear: 1 has the oxfords with no-show socks, 2 shows my flat sandals.)

Yes, I'm going to wear the wool shorts with tights & sweaters - any suggestions along those lines? I've never worn that style before. I was just too impatient to wait till sweater weather.

I like all these outfits (although I wish you were wearing shoes since I'm a shoe person and shoes complete an outfit for me). I think the tops you've chosen with the floral skirt both look good. Are you planning on wearing the wool shorts when the weather cools down? I think they would look good with tights and sweaters.

I also like the tops you've chosen for 2/6. The tucked look works well to rein in volume and the belt in the same color family keeps it looking pulled together.

Thanks, Jackiec!

Ah, I get it, E. I suffer from a lack of slightly longer tops that match the colours in that skirt. I was wishing the mustard one harmonized with it.

I don't have many woven tops w built-in waist definition either, so I get it! Usually unless there's a tie, if a top fits my waist it's too tight in the bust and if it fits my bust it's too loose in the waist. Frustrating.

What about tops like the mustard one: knits fitted enough to show the waist on their own?

Of course, it's just one idea! I actually prefer 6 to 2, so I clearly didn't find it too busy. I like how the more obvious belt makes the hip-slung bit seem intentional & laid back.

Great outfits! That blue & red combo is so pretty on you, and your tiny waist. I think you've worked the long skirt/shirt combo. Waiting to hear other suggestions b/c I'm not that great with that. I'm almost always loose and fluid on top

I was waiting for your comment. :) I don't have many of those tops anymore, E. I've got a crisp button-down (wrong pairing), and empire or tie-in-back tops have gradually departed my wardrobe. Unless you meant something else?

I need to bust out my sashes! I think I've unpacked them. And get back into the WIW habit, for that matter.

Anyway, have you tried wearing a shirt w built-in waist definition untucked over the floral maxi? I have a tricky time with skirts that hit me there, but that's a solution I use with looser trousers. The shorts look good, as does the sash! Love the way your hair looks always, but especially in 6.

You wear those wool shorts well, and the ribbon sash shows off your tiny waist. I like the belt in 2/6 as finishing the look. Since it's color blends with the skirt and top,it doesn't seem distracting or too much. I like the structure that it gives, especially as you have no leg showing. A belt would finish the short outfit in #3.

Hello again! This week we'll get to enjoy more pleasant summer weather, though not fall again. I've finished the wool shorts (#3) and worked in a ribbon sash (#5).

I do have a question for you: what length of top (and belt or no belt) would look good proportionally with the skirt in #2/6? I have trouble getting any outfit to look right. #6 seems too busy now (probably the belt).

Thank you, as always, for taking the time to comment and give me suggestions. Have a wonderful day!
