Great drape on the sweater. And the light color really lets the drape stand out against the darker bottom.

And yes, felt like a pretty classic look.Again, thank you.

Daria: We are expecting 4-8 inches of snow but rained all day. Hunters arrived for spring but I'm afraid spring will have wait until more winter weather.

AM - I was thinking about those gorgeous Hunter boots when getting out of the house today in the sleet. Preppy or not, you look awesome.

You look great, AM! What a nice way to remember your mom. Those are classic pieces in my opinion. Great Hunter boots as well. You look classic, simple, put together, with quality pieces and great lines. I like your hair like that too.

CocoLion: Yes, mom was a stylish woman and a great shopper. I was robbed when she passed. We had so much more styling and shopping to do together. I love how you describe her pieces as "Those pieces are standing up to time. Clean modernism is classic, like Elsa Perretti or Nambe bowls." Absolutely!

Haha. You can call me whatever it is that you see. Call it like you see it. Big thanks!

Yes you were ahead of the curve with Alexis Bittar! Mom must have been a stylish woman. Those pieces are standing up to time. Clean modernism is classic, like Elsa Perretti or Nambe bowls.

I do see the Hunters as preppy. Because the roots of preppy are English after all. Again, NOT a pejorative coming from me! Brands like J Crew and Madewell are preppy too. And very fashionable right now. But if you want me to stop saying that in your threads, I can! ;-)

Sara L.: Thank

caro of oz: Yes, it feels really good to have some practical pieces that I actually took the time to deliberately choose. Doing without is really not fun. Thank you! It felt good. I'm making more note about how I feel per your suggestion.

Aida: Thanks for all your observations and comments. Feeling very good about having some rainwear, finally. "The black Hunters are a good classic" -- that's precisely why I thought I need to have them. And I can totally appreciate that your pearl white Hunters are "even nice to just look at ^^" But I don't know what those little triangles mean. Ugh. I'm such a novice. Thanks again!

retail girl: I'm actually becoming okay with descriptors that are more of personas (thanks to Angie) or are broad style descriptors. And you are correct, nothing wrong with that. I'm more interested in descriptors that are focused on process, form and design (collected, minimal, elongated, etc.) I feel like I can more readily use these as guides as they feel more precise. You're making me really think. Thank you! And so glad that you share in wearing your mom's pieces. It really is just so special.

Firecracker: Thanks! "Modern" and "Practical" feel very good. And it was a real pleasure to wear my mom's pieces. Again, thank you.

gauche: I definitely feel like I have simple taste but that I try to make the most of these details. Glad to know that this reads as "quality." I just google "kate moss glastonbury." Than you!

Great look, I still think your look has an element of preppy...nothing wrong with that, as long as you aren't wearing pants embroidered with whales! (but that is a good look for some people!) And I love the jewelry. My mother died 25 years ago, but when I need to feel strong or need good luck , I wear her wedding band. It connects me to her.

What a fab tunic! Looks nice and arty styled with the skirted leggings. As one who lives in a very wet place, I think it's great that we've got cute rain wear options these days. The black Hunters are a good classic and should last you a good long while. I have a pair in pearl white that are too big (too tall, too wide in the calf) that I just can't seem to let go of even though I can't really wear them. They're even nice to just look at ^^

Thanks, approprio.

And so nice to have another perspective on Hunters. I actually used the word preppy because rachylou had described them as preppy and she just threw hers out -- and I was just getting mine. And then I had to go into therapy with Angie after being called preppy a few days back. She really does give good therapy. And I thought I was getting these right by calling them "preppy" and I was dealing with my issues... Back to therapy.

I'm going to ask the question because I live under a rock. How did Kate Moss make them cool? I have no clue. I guess I should just google this.

I'm glad that these have imagery and meaning beyond what I realized. And yes, summer music festival! Bring me warm weather.

Lovely classic look! Rainwear is so hard to get right. And your mother's jewellery is gorgeous. I'm right behind that today as you can imagine.

I don't think Hunters are preppy at all. They're a Brit classic, and although we have plenty of jokes about green wellies, we should all thank Kate Moss for making such a practical item cool. Best thing for a music festival in the English summer for sure.

We are headed to a tavern tonight with friends. It's rainy (and possibly sleeting). I was inspired by Laurie's skirted legging with asymmetrical sweater. And my preppy black Hunters just arrived. I purchased these Hunters and the raincoat as rainy day staples that had been missing from my wardrobe for too long.

The Alexis Bittar set that I am wearing is a small tribute to my mother. It's hard to remember but I think both the earrings and the bangle were both hers. This is a very, very rare occurrence where I felt like I might have been early to have worn Bittar (probably 15 years ago). And then I shared this designer with my mom. The earrings were most definitely my mothers. I lost my mother in 2007 but wearing her jewelry keeps her close.
