@Una, I'll chose one next time, that's my additional excuse to go back, if I need any :)

@Patty, I bet the stuff came from Carroll's We spent so much money there over the years buying gifts for our friends. And a huge umbrella for me before we left Ireland. Btw, my old workplace was only across the river from the Guinness factory. Imagine going to work every day with a distinctive whiff in the air - and I am not a fan of beer. Yes, do go to ireland, it IS magical place - scenery, history, but above all people.

@Sveta, I'll consider this shirt with wide(r) trousers, thanks. I felt I needed something collared in this combination.
This IS nostalgia after Dublin and Ireland. We travelled to every corner of the country in those 2.5 years, had only the best experiences with the locals, met the most amazing people who, like us, came from all over the world at the time of economic boom and made friends for life. And I had the best job experience there - when volunteering! I AM biased and I'm proud to say that :)

Thanks everyone for your comments...

I like the buttons on the shirt, I think they're different. The shirt is classic. I know unique buttons were in style what -- 5-10 years ago at places like J Jill, but I didn't think "something looks dated" when I saw this picture. I really had to think hard about button trends. So I would keep the shirt the way it is.

Your pictures made me yearn to travel. Photo #2 needs to be framed an hung on your wall. When you are 64 you will treasure it.

Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing. I love your travel gear. The hat is so cute, and I love the bright colors. Photo 2 is really tugging at my maternal instincts (I am not a mom.) I would change the buttons on the shirt, but I really love the buttons on the cardigan. Nice outfit.

Ornela, that sounds like a great weekend and your casual travel look is fab. Ireland is on my travel wish list (as a lot of other places of course...) Is this a nostalgia after Dublin or after the time when you were younger and more care free (read - no children yet) :-)
I do not mind the buttons but I would consider this shirt to be too short for skinnies. I ould try it with wide leg trousers instead.

If you can change the buttons to white I vote do so, it'll give you more versatility with the shirt. Cute hats, I would've been tempted to buy them. Looks like a fun trip.

I almost ended up in Dublin in the late 80s. My man was working at Don Bluth Studios on all Dogs Go to Heaven at the time and I was in Toronto. He and a pal found a cute little cottage next to an old monastery and was sooo excited but it sorta didn't work out in the long run. My best friends however did spend a stint there at the studio for a couple years and came back to Canada with two Irish cats. I get to hear lots of great stories of peat smoke air and Guiness, bomb scares on buses and the Book of Kells. Dave got me a beautiful kilt and Aryn sweater in a shop just off the River Liffe before he came home. We hope to go back so he can show me the sights--sounds like a pretty magical place!
Ornela how could you resist not buying one of those caps!!????

Yes, white. I wouldn't mind keeping these as they make the shirt a bit different than my other white ones, but I'm not sure these big grey buttons are not old-fashioned.

I'm not posting any weekly outfits, just a few random photos. We've spent the last weekend in Dublin, where hubby and I lived 10 years ago and always feel like it's our second home. The weather was sunny and nice, but very, very windy, so in order to warm up I ended up buying a thin black cardigan for layering, which was good as my old one needed replacing.

I was not too upset about the wind actually, as that was good enough excuse not to take my hat off at all - my hair is a disaster at the moment and I just can't control it properly, so anything that hides it is good.

I've also found grey BF cardigan I was after for quite some time and a pretty dress also followed me back across the Irish Sea. If the temperatures stay as they are at the moment, you'll see the dress soon enough.

Some photos:
1. My holiday 'gear': a par of jeans, leather jacket, red hat and flats. I only changed tops and scarves. Photo from my favorite bookstore.
2. We went for a walk and to see the horses at the country estate south of Dublin.
3. Detail from the souvenir shop - I cannot resist woolen scarves but managed not to buy any this time. I also couldn't decide which hat I preferred and didn't get any, but had to take the photo at least.
4. Dramatic sky over the Dublin Bay. Imagine commuting every day and watching this scenery. Yes, life really was good back then. (I'm not complaining about it now, don't get me wrong :), but those really were the days... )
5. My new cardigan and here is a question - what do you think about the buttons on the shirt, do they look old fashioned? This is sleeves shirt that I like wearing, but this is the first time after a while I'm wearing it in a way the buttons are showing, so they started to bother me a bit. Should I replace them?
