Lynn, the buttons on the side tabs are functional. I was actually wondering if I could have them moved a smidge to create that slight tightening? That's an alteration that seems reasonable and like something my local tailor might be able to do.

rachylou, I'm glad, thank you so much.

Christina- Ah, fitting the crotch curve. There are volumes written about it and much agonizing over it in the sewing world.

Your pants and jeans actually fit you pretty well, #9 actually fits great. #8 is not bad. It's hard to tell in the photo but it looks like you have slightly too much fabric at the base of the curve causing it to buckle a little. If it is too much length going up a size would actually make it worse.

If it bothers you enough that you would consider alterations- try pinching out a fold just under the waistband to shorten the length of the front seam. If it helps and doesn't cause other wrinkles you could have the waistband lowered to improve the fit. Ideally it has be corrected at the pattern stage but sometimes you can get away with this alteration.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Angie and jlpp for the kind words. I'd have never questioned the whiskering before, but I read that it's a sign that you should size up and then tailor and yeah, not doing that with all my pants. I suddenly wasn't sure if I needed to be looking for pants that don't do that, which is nearly impossible. They are very comfortable, which is my usual barrier to wearing trousers.

I'll post more pictures, because next I'll decide if I need to hem them a little. I think they're a similar length to the bootcut jeans, so maybe not, but they break a bit differently. I haven't worn much of anything that's not ankle length in years, so I'm out of practice.

Nice to see you again, Christina.

The fit of the trousers in #8 look great. That amount of whiskering is not a problem at all. I can't really make out the fit of #9 from the pic.

My faves are #1 and #2. Good job wearing your cardis, and you look sensational in bootcuts. The embroidered pullover is yummy too.

Sara, I think #6 is probably just fine, and I'm still getting used to having a few tops with trendy, voluminous sleeves. My eye is adjusting, though. Another issue is that I had considered shortening the hem on that top just a bit, but decided against it. Maybe I still want it a bit shorter.

These are all great outfits. I actually really like #6 and think the proportions look good. Maybe it was different in real life? I love your floral sweater in #2 and the jacket outfit in #4. If you don't like the tassels on the dress, I would cut them off. I change belts on dresses all the time.

Babs, thanks! I think patterned tops are one of my signatures now. I actually decided not to wear the dress today, in favor of a sweater dress because it's a bit colder this morning than I anticipated. But I'm keeping note of the outfit idea for use on a warmer day. (I'm adding today's outfit to the post in a bit to complete a week.)

Aurore, I think it does look okay! But maybe just okay. They're a bit loose, which is really comfortable across my stomach. But I think that also causes the pants to pull like that. In #9, the pulling is there but minimal, and that's one of the best fits I've ever seen on me. It's like finding a unicorn, though. The blazer is green tweed.

I agree with Babs about the pattern of the blouse in #3. It's really beautiful! I also love outfit #4, classy and classic. Is the blazer grey or green?

I'm really interested in the answers to your questions on #8 : to me it looks OK, but I have such a hard time finding trousers that fit (I'm also a pear!) that I may not be picky enough.

Your plans for the dress sound great! I think the texture will look great with tights. I also really love your blouses. The pretty pattern in #3 is fantastic.

I'm afraid I'm no help with fitting slacks. I'm still trying to figure out my own!

Thanks, Sal and Jussie, for your kind words. You're probably right that I can do better on the pants. It's an area where I've typically settled a lot in the past, and it's been a mistake. Between my thighs (Portuguese gal here) and some bloating issues, I can be hard to fit. That's why I wear so many pairs of jeans. Fortunately, my need for dressier trousers, while a a valid need, is not urgent - I just want more than my one pair of bootcut ones (the rest are all ankle pants or straight, including the pair in #9). I can take my time and keep looking.

I may hold on to the dress belt as-is for now and see how I feel. I'm not a big belt person, but I probably have something else I can use somewhere. I have a dressier occasion tomorrow, so I could wear that (but with fleece tights and thermal layers, plus maybe a topper!)

Your outfits are gorgeous! You look great in them. Also you wear the dark colours so well love that dress, I’m tempted by it myself. As for crotch pulling, I understand that dress pants are incredibly tricky to fit- I tried on about ten pairs the other day and left empty handed. The photo you show isn't too bad, it’d be fine to wear them, but I would return them and keep searching if possible....
best of luck and thanks for sharing your outfits!

Hope stress levels calm down soon - these patches are hard especially in winter.

I like 6 actually - I don't see a proportion issue. I also like your dark florals.

I think both pants are nice - 9 is a lovely fit. I think 8 is fine too but i am not a good judge on fit and am trying to be more picky myself. I think I would pause on them.

I think the dress is pretty with or without the tassels.

Hi all! First of all, my activity here has dropped off due to a crazy time at work. Things should be getting better in the next week. I’ve been reading a little bit unable to interact much.

Pictures 1-7 are my recent WIW’s. I’ve made some attempt to wear my rollers but it’s been hard to wear anything but a few pairs of jeans. I’ve been stressed and bloated and they’re the most comfortable things aside from leggings. I like all these outfits except that #6 was a bit off for me. I’m not sure if the proportions of the top, pants and boots altogether are a problem, or what.

The last two pics pertain to a k/r question. What’s the tolerance level for crotch pulling in pants? I can almost never avoid it, so I have some tolerance. I like the pants in #8 (see find), otherwise. I don’t think I’d want to size up and then have everything taken in. It’s really only my thighs that creates the pulling, so there would be a lot of tailoring needed (I don’t currently have anyone I trust for that, plus it’s very expensive to tailor things here beyond simple hemming.) I posted the pants in #9, which I’m probably keeping as the fit is immaculate (a rarity), as a comparison.

The other find below is a dress. No pic of me in it, but it looks good. I’m just wondering if I should keep the tassels. I think they push things a little farther past boho lite than I’d like. Should I cut them off, or save the belt and just use some other kind of belt? I’m not sure I’d miss the tassels, though.

ETA: is what I’m wearing today, 1/26. Date night with the husband.
