You are adorable in all of these, Smittie. I agree with Angie on favorites. I'm also thinking skylurker and Kiwigal/Sally have good ideas on the cardigan. I was studying that outfit carefully, because I have a few cardigans like that one and I wonder about my own styling of them. I think nowadays the tops I like to wear them with are longer and more flowy. Though I think I would probably wear an outfit pretty much like the one you did, so I didn't think anything was amiss, had I not been prompted by your question.
I agree with you about the two baseball cap outfits--I much prefer the second one. You look straight out of a fashion magazine. Actually, my thought about the first one is that you resemble a celebrity who is trying to fly under the radar, incognito--i.e., trying not to look too obviously fabulous.

Thanks to other commentor-ettes :-)

Brooklyn: The merino is too hot, but just right for the air conditioned office. And it's fine for small amounts of time outside. It's ironic that the merino is far more useful to us far-away Canucks than it is to you Aussies!

Shevia and CocoCat: Thank you!

Peri and Style Fan: I've thrown out the CeraVe - it is causing immense skin distress: Very dry circular patches that are itchy and red, only after 2 uses. So dissappointing considering all the love.

For the sunscreen, I am testing out Live Clean (available at shoppers) which is mineral only--9% zinc, 6% titanium -- this is the best SS so far, no issues, but it's so greasy! I'm waiting on the dermatologist before I get any more La Roche Posay, SF, as it is expensive.

All other sunscreens have something in them that is causing stinging (but not redness).

Great pants. So versatile. Love the length on you. My favourite look is #1. I have those cropped cardigans and wear them with jeans. I didn't realize they were for dresses. (there wasn't a label saying so on them)
I like the more fitted T on you. Good choice. I like the baseball hat. Better than no sun protection. Of course I don't watch sports. Neither does DH.
Re: Suncreen
I wear the mineral La Roche Posay 50. Different than the chemical one.
There is also a mineral powder one. I can't remember the name but it didn't irritate my skin.
Good luck sorting that out.

I really like 1 and 2, and I'm chiming in with others about the cardigan. It is not universally too small, it just looks off with those other pieces. Keep it for a dress or skirt because the color looks great on you.

Love the pinstripe pants. No 2 and 4 look great. I am amazed that you can tolerate a merino top in summer but I am very happy for our industry that you can! It does look better than the tee in no 3 but I don't think the tee looks bad. I think tees (and other sheer items) often don't photograph well. I really like the brighter colours on you. You do sporty luxe really well.

Thanks Angie, Sally and Marilyn!
Sally, I hope the sneakers work out!
Suz, I'll have try the stick-based sunscreen. Ombrelle and La Roche Posay (the other s.c. I'm trialing while I wait for a dermatologist) are owned by the same company...just an FYI. Had I known that, I probably wouldn't have tried the La Roche Posay stuff because it's expensive.

I agree with Angie - 2 and 4 are stunners on you. 1 is also really good!!! I like you in the cap - I think it works really well.

I don't mind the loose thin tee at all but do prefer the more fitted one.

I agree the cardigan would work best over a dress. I am not sure that I see it as your style particularly but I do always like to have a simple cardigan or two to throw on in the evening when it cools down in summer. It could look great over a fitted tank and denim skirt too.

That bright shade is gorgeous on you!!!

I am waiting a delivery of some white sneakers right now - I hope I look as good as you in mine.

Smittie, I will let you know if I find a sunscreen. Honestly the best thing I've had so far is one of those Ombrelle sticks. Neutrogena makes one too but theirs sometimes irritates me. (Their moisturizer and cream or lotion sunscreens always irritate, but not always the stick...it just depends.) I am now curious about the one you are trying....

Wanted to nod in agreement re Skylurker's comment about the neckline -- I have given up on scoop necks (for myself) as they are not flattering with my short hair/ smaller bust/ longer chin-to-mid-bust measurement. I do still like a small, narrow V neck and think it works but those are harder to find.

Jaileen: lol! I will never wear that hat with these pants again!! What a faux pas My only excuse is that I am not a baseball fan.

Jenn, RWS, Rachy : thank you!
Lisap: yes, those merino tshirt are a new staple of mine. The K&A is the grey tshirt.
Skylurker:

Thanks for the analysis.

I hoisted up the deep v tshirt and wore my hair down and it does look better...more together. I think I need to avoid these deep-v tshirts.
Suz: If you find a good sunscreen, let me know. I'm currently testing a zinc/titanium one called 'live clean sport'. It is pretty sticky...
Viva: The fabric is a washable linen rayon blend which oddly doesn't seem to wrinkle. It does bag out.

I adore 2 and 4, and I love when I can push the same item toward very feminine and very boyish. You've done that perfectly here. 2 is just perfect - all those patterns and juicy tones with the grounding of the pinstripe is fantastic! And with the sporty numbers, While I like 3, I think 4 is definitely more luxe.

What is the fabrication of these pants? They almost look like pinstripe jeans!?

The pants look great on you in every picture. But pinstripes = NY Yankees. So, you need a different hat. :)

I agree that 4 is better than 3. Maybe the top in 3 is too big. It is quite low cut which would make me feel uncomfortable.

I think we have similar body shapes, except your waist look longer than mine, so I will inevitably project myself here :
the #3 tee doesn't look sloppy, but the neckline is low, and that's why it looks off to me, with your rather long (and not thick!!) neck and with your hair up.
the short cardi I'd wear with higher waisted trousers.

I absolutely love #2 (#1 looks good too, but the accessories in #2 look even better) and #4. Great style.

Those pants are fantastic on you! Wow. I love how you have dressed them up and down, for ladylike mens'wear and sporty luxe! Very clever outfits. #1 and #2 are sensational on you. Love how you carry the structured bag when you are wearing the sneakers. And I have to argue with you about the ball cap because I think it looks really cute! (And I'm not generally a fan of ball caps).

I agree with Tanya that the sweater will look good as a topper for dresses or skirts -- a looser longer one would probably work better with the pants, or a jacket of some kind (blazer, bomber, what have you.)

As for the sunscreen your skin can tolerate, I have no answers on that one since I face the same difficulty. Ugh.

The pinstriped pants look fantastic on you! I was eyeballing them a week or two ago as I have that pant in another fabric, but decided not to tempt fate. Love the sporty and dressy looks you've put together here. Which t is the Kit & Ace one? And yeah, I'd have to agree that the cardi looks a tad small, even though that shrunken look keeps showing up in J Crew catalogues. You have the body type for it, but I think a more relaxed fit would look more modern ? Those merino t's from BR are such a good find - I've never seen them, and they'd be too body con on me, but boy do they ever work perfectly for you!

Thanks for chiming in donna. I feel like we have a similar body type so your take on the grey tshirt is appreciated!

Thanks Diane! You know I am so clueless about cardigans. I didn't realize that these smaller fitted ones were supposed to be worn as dress toppers, but it makes sense now.

I love the pants. They are versatile and look great on you! I vote Killer for #2. Everything is just perfect! WOW!
IKEWYM shirt in #3. I can't do slub and my striped b+w tee from BR feels like this to me. I can happily wear it around the house or yard though... so I agree and like #4 better.
I don't think the cardigan looks bad open, but I would like to see it as a topper for dresses instead.
Good for you for wearing the hat while you figure out sunscreen!
Looking good smittie!

Ooh, those pinstripe pants are awesome! So versatile. Outfit #1 with the pink sweater and those fab floral shoes blows me away. I also think your sporty luxe outfit with the cap is really cute. WRT to the cardigan in your final look...I guess I do prefer it un-buttoned as it does seem to pull a smidge when buttoned...that said it's a cropped cardigan that reminds me of the sort that give a bit of a 50's vibe and they are often worn to be quite fitted. I quite like it and I'm getting a bit of an Audrey Hepburn feel from your outfit, which is good!

Thanks Kelly. Nice of you to say the cardigan looks intentional,

I like all of these on you. You have such a polished sporty style! I actually like the drapey tee a lot--it looks excellent with those pants. Not sloppy at all. Baseball hat is cute too. I'm not sure about the cardigan--honestly, it looks intentionally shrunken on you. I thought that was in style? Looks great to me. You look terrific in everything!

I am fan of pinstripes too and these pants are very cool. The first two outfits are gorgeous. I also think that in the last outfit the cardi is a bit too shrunken and would work better with skirts/dresses, with the pants I would wear a longer/looser/BF style.
