I might try it again with my burgundy skirt instead of the jeans, but I mostly bought the denim shirt as a layering piece, and it will probably remain that way. The addition of the pink isn't going to happen for me. I only own pink in workout gear.</p> <p>#2 actually was okay, but I'd prefer it with a thinner plaid shirt and a chunkier sweater. Also, it felt a little masculine to me, so I'd have to find something to soften it up. Both inspirational pictures have many wrinkles in the pants and the jeans are skin tight . Probably we wouldn't go outside with pants like that but find it ok in a blogger's photo.<br /> Tucking in is hard, sometimes I tuck in just a bit of the front but then go all day wondering if I should be handing out pamphlets that explain why only half of my shirt is tucked in.<br /> Both your interpretations are wonderful and very you. You did a great job with these, and in particular a great job <i>adapting</i> the looks to suit your style and your needs. I like both outfits with a bit of a soft spot for the first.</p> <p>Tucking with a stiff, thick shirt is tricky indeed. You need fabric that has a very soft hand so that it'll drape against the body rather than stand away from it. In that first Pinterest outfit, she's not fully tucked by the way, just the front is. The pose may also disguise a bit of the belly effect you're describing, too. Here's what I learned: it's harder than it looks.</p> <p>First off, what's up with those poses? I showed a friend and she said, "It looks like they're checking to see if they got gum on their shoe." I tried to duplicate, but ended up falling over and looking ridiculous.</p> <p>Second, I chose poorly. I picked two outfits with fully-tucked button-down shirts, because they were things I could replicate that were a little outside my comfort zone. Turns out, they were outside my comfort zone for a reason. Fully-tucked shirts, especially these thick ones, make me look like I'm about give birth to an alien baby... and not in a cool, post-apocalyptic way, either.</p> <p>So now, I present to you: my hastily-altered, untucked versions of two Pinterest outfits. If nothing else, it was a learning experience. </p> <p></p> <p>ETA: Added a third outfit. Also untucked!</p>
