(Not a football fan, here.) Your talk of the nearby Rose Parade reminds me: when we lived in So Cal for two years in junior high, my dad took me to the parade both years. We parked on a residential street somewhere, took a ladder that Dad propped up against a tree, and he held me while I stood a couple of steps up the ladder to watch over people's heads. He had found a position where all the bands seemed to strike up again, right in front of us.
