This dress is a new favorite for sure. Now I just need to figure out how to feel this sharp every day...</p> <p>(Apologies for the terrible lighting in the pictures; it's dark and rainy and there's no natural light to be had.)</p> <p>(And I carried a red umbrella that matched my topper almost perfectly.)</p> <p>Items:<br />Express Premium Wool Trench Coat (find below) - new purchase and I love it. It feels like especially good quality for Express (with price tag to match, but I got it 30% off).&nbsp; I used to have and loved a black trench coat in college, but it was terribly ill-fitting, since I knew nothing about fit and tended to wear baggy shapeless things in those days. So I've been on the lookout for a dignified black trench that's appropriate for dressier work days, and I think this fits the bill.</p> <p>Helmut Lang gray wool asymmetric zipper dress - bought on consignment from therealreal.com. It's too bad that the topper covers up most of the cool wraparound zipper detail, but that's okay... I still love the hem and the draped neckline with a topper. I've worn pretty much this exact outfit to work twice in the last two weeks and gotten compliments each time, so it's on my list of fast fallback options.</p> <p>Express Knit Moto Jacket (find below, in black) - I was a little on the fence about this jacket when I got it... the silver bits sometimes feel a little overwhelming, but I've decided that I love it. I'm not sure if cranberry/burgundy/red is my best color as a redhead, but I don't care; I really like wearing it.</p> <p>ancient Clarks Indigo shooties - I've had these forever and worn them into the ground; the heels have been repaired once already, and I put inserts in the front to add some padding since I've long since worn down any padding it originally had. It might be time to replace them soon; the heels are feeling a little high these days, especially if I have to walk a lot. </p>
