JamC, Meredith - great suggestion to try short jacket with the dress! Thanks.
kkards - flats will work with the dress too, thank you!

another vote for #1 as my fav. i like the denim jacket with dress, you might try to roll the sleeves up a little more, it would lighten the outfit up a bit. also wondering if the shoes from #3 would work with the dress.

I was going to say something similar to what JamC suggested-i like the dress idea. I like my short jackets paired with skirts, so that's worth a try too.

These look great! I like short jackets with dresses; try the dress and green jacket together! I would also pair the bright sweater with the dress and see how that looks.

Tania, Brooklyn, caro in oz - thank you! I'm guessing #2 (with tights) would indeed be a nice wintry outfit, had I lived somewhere in California!

I love no 1. Has a funky 70s vibe. Proportions are good. It would also work with wedge or platform sandals imo. No 2 is great. You definitely can carry it off, but it does look a little more wintry in terms of colour. I am not sure about no 3 because I have a thing about mixing black with light bright colours like coral and bright blue. But that is just a personal preference, I don't think that there are too many colours:)

I think they all work. Proportions of 1 are fine. I really like the shoes in 2, and the color combo in 3.

The proportions of #1 are great! It's my favorite of the three. And the pop of blue with the coral in #3 is so fun.

I'm another fan of the fab proportions in #1 I really like the shorter jacket length. #2 looks fine to me. I think it works and I don't think there's too much going on in #3 as it's basically black and white with two colours.

I love the dress with the denim jacket. It's cool. And I like the way you've mixed coral and blue with black and b&w print. No - it's not too much. It's just right---interesting without being over the top. I agree with amiable, the proportions of #1 look balanced to me.

Thanks amiable! You are probably right reg. the dress outfit. Would be better with a white or bright-colored denim jacket - alas it's not in the budget right now.

Personally I like them all - the proportions of #1 look great to my eye - I like the longer, contrasting top. #2 is darker than you normally wear, and because of that looks a bit wintry to me. I love the shoes though! And I really like the pops of bright color with the patterns in #3. :)

A brief WIW with a couple (3 to be exact :)) outfits from this week.
Life has been pretty hectic both at and outside of work. Actually my only half-decent outfit this week was worn to my daughter's preschool graduation, but I never got to take a photo. I don't shop, so it's all combinations of my existing pieces.
#1 - I'm never sure how to style this jacket proportion wise - something always seems off to me. Here I'm trying it with a longer top of contrasting color. What do you think?
#2 - looks pretty bland? The kind of outfit Astrid can pull off but not me. :)
#3 - is there too much going on, with a mix of pattern and colors?
