You are spot-on about these being relegated to donation/hide zone because of the wrong climate. (On that note, I have actually declared myself as primarily <a rel="nofollow" href="http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/the-best-time-to-edit-wardrobe-and-purge-clothes-for-me---in-season">in-season purger</a> in the post from a while ago.) The fact is, these were bought back in England and the dresses did not feel right in the summers I've had there (although this year seems like they would have been perfect in the heat over there). I am so glad you saved your dresses from the donate pile.  The hats are only the co-stars here. Your beautiful face is the star.  These are lovely summer outfits. I am tempted to say they are perfect. You make me think of summer, just looking at you. But not sticky, horrible, uncomfortable summer. Breezy, fresh, stopping for a glass of lemonade by the sea summer.  I note that the dresses in the donate bin were for very hot weather. Sometimes I am tempted to purge items during times of the year when I cannot imagine it ever been necessary to wear those items. And it is true, you don't often get steaming hot summers like the one you are having now. Yet I think it's worth saving a few "hot weather capsule" items. True, they may not get worn often. In some years, they may not get worn at all! One thing I became aware this summer in particular is that the really draws the attention to the face, but at oneself in general as well. It used to make me uncomfortable to an extent, but I also pushed myself through that to reach new comfort zone. Btw, from what I've seen the sort of hat in #1 is commonly found in almost all men's departments which stock hats. I got mine at H&M. I love these hat outfit combinations especially #'s 3 - 5.  I think #3 is my favorite look. I have unearthed the old hats -- and some dresses too -- in an attempt to keep the protection from sun more interesting and to see what will qualify for the suitcase.  For your amusement and fun, and to keep track of hits and misses over the last week or two, I present for your most welcome comments and observations: <ol> <li>By far my favourite hat at the moment and my summer wardrobe workhorse, as shown in many of my recent threads. I love how it adds structure to any outfit. I'm not happy with the way the top drapes on this photo, but it is lightweight and with the flowy skirt it was perfect for popping to the supermarket in the melting temperatures.</li> <li>Old hat, matches hardly anything in my summer wardrobe, but I can actually make it work with the set of colorful bracelets which echo the stripes of the hat. Until I find another 'girly' hat that is, then I'll pass it on. Worn to the weekend day out with the friends.</li> <li>Very, very old hat which I call 'Floppy' because it is - floppy. But, I like it, especially because I can stuff it in the bag without worrying it will loose its shape. Worn with the dress that was in the donation pile until I wanted to try it out one more time because I like wearing white when it's too hot. In case you haven't noticed, LOL. Also showing another semi-orphan - the straw bag (again, what was I thinking when I bought it years ago… those colours on me??... but I like it and don't want to get rid of it). And because I was playing matchy-matchy, that should explain the belt too. Quite 'earthy' scheme for me, but I felt great. Plus the metallic loafers, i.e. my twist to the predictable outfit, white footwear would be quite obvious choice, no? In terms of practicality it was actually perfect outfit for cycling on the extremly hot day.</li> <li>Floppy with another dress which almost ended up on the donation pile, but I'm now rethinking it as it was just right on yet another unbearably hot day. Lightweight and breezy. What do you think, Keep or Not? </li> <li>Floppy in dressier version with the linen skirt you saw before and premiering on YLF - my very, very old top I bought when I still lived in Ireland (11 years ago, maybe even 12!!!). I love this top, I can't explain why but I'm sure I'll decipher this affection to it once, and I don't see it leaving my wardrobe until it falls apart.</li> </ol> You can call me Hattie :-)
