Man, sorry for neglecting my own thread. Work + inlaw houseguests...

Diane and Nadya -- Thank you both, especially as your own choices keep me on my toes re fit and color! [Diane, I've compromised too much on fit the last few years [shame shame]...I'm trying to get better.]

And it's so easy to fall in lust with sandals after months of wet feet, isn't it? They're just so...different, ha. N, sorry about the demise of your favorite walking sandal. Hopefully you'll be spoiled for choice with a replacement soon.

I'm certainly open to buying another pair if I discover I really need one once the weather heats up!

AG -- How do I sign up for the "grow vs shrink" as I near 50?! Is it the rock climbing?

BTW, I actually had a skirt a lot like the "before" one in the mid-2000s- only it was midi-length! White linen. Felt so summery, looked so bad.

Heh. Thanks for humoring me! Would anyone look good in that first outfit?

Just went to the doctor this morning and I am indeed 5'2"! Spent my life thinking I was 5'1" so I'm actually taller than I thought.

Those crops and sandals look great on you! Here's hoping you get lots of sandal weather this year. As the others said, I can't imagine your legs looking short...

I hae a couple of pairs of transitional shoes - a pair of open toed Sorel booties, and a pair of Oxfords. I tend to wear them in shoulder seasons, and then wear sandals every possible day I can in the PNW summer. But yeah, they do last a couple of years, except for my last favorite pair of walking sandals that had a strap suddenly break. Still looking for a replacement for that.

Hey Vix, I'm another who rarely wears sandals for more than 5 mins due to temperate weather...still, more excuses for other types of fab shoes.

You look fabulous in both jeans lengths and the proportions work so well with your tunics. I also like the layering of tops in the last outfit. As usual, your clothes fit impeccably and the colours you wear are very flattering.

AlaskaGirl -- Hey, you keep saying you're 5'2, but...TAPE MEASURE OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Glad you're still pro-tunic for me! See my answer to your challenge....

Brooklyn -- Thanks much; I love the floral one too -- $40 off Poshmark, so glad someone else's "trash" is now my treasure. Art Nouveau/Modernisme and Deco florals get me almost every time. Interesting you're not liking your cropped flares with tunics (so far, anyway)! I'm wondering if it's a competition for attention or a proportion thing?

Rabbit -- Good luck with the hunt!

Firecracker -- I'm laughing because I think these skinnies and my other new pairs are completely jeggings and you think your jeggings are more like skinnies! A rose by any other name, as long as it gets the job done, eh? The zippers will be a great element for your style and I admit the clean waistline has me envious. Let's see you get going with these tunic looks so I can steal tips!

Shevia -- Glad you know what I mean, ha! I think you're another one who makes random references to needing petites and I never understand why. So clearly "think tall look tall" works! And thank you.

ETA -- AG, can't go there but pretend I'm modeling the left-hand outfit from stylist Bridgette Raes' awesome book, Style Rx (#1). And let's just say I won't repeat my look in #2 (I eventually chopped the flounce off and got several more years of wear).

I like them all. Count me among those who assumed you were taller, and these outfits are no exception in giving you height. I like the way you're wearing tunics, and the cropped jeans are fab at all lengths and cuff variations.
Perhaps I will copy you; I just got these denim leggings with the idea of wearing them with tunics. They are cropped with zippers, and I love how they looked when I tried them on. They look like denim skinnies rather than leggings, and for me, they offer the advantage of a clean waistline for wearing tops untucked.
But I digress. . . what I really meant was you look fabulous!

Thanks Vix, yes I do remember reading your threads about dying/polishing shoes before. If I have no luck with silver sandals or lace up ballet shoes that might be the way I go. (I'm a little sick of rows and rows of dull taupe as the 'light' colored shoe option in sandals in the brick and mortar places I search). I have some Clarks Indigo shoes and like them for comfort and longevity.

I am firmly pro tunic too!
But I do think tunics are hard to wear with cropped flares. I have been trying it out at home with my cropped baby flares (a DIY hacked version of the trend) and I am not that happy with the results.
I think tunics look much better with cropped skinnies. The way you are wearing them here!
These are great looks but I am totally besotted with your look in 3. Very exotic. I love that floral tunic.

Alassë -- Thanks! Leave it to me to be pro-tunic now that everyone's moved on, ha -- hoping the cuffing helps me look not too out of it!

Rabbit -- Glad I hit the mark with some of your favorite combos/tones. "Maybe" to the espadrilles being around on eBay/discounters; I looked REALLY hard for a replacement pair for about a year. They're Clarks Indigo Sky Pocomo. I've platinum'd the tan and steel blue shades.

But you can totally DIY any pair if you wear leather -- have you experimented with the Tarrago metallic shoe creams? Link to my source: Ihttp://shoeshinekit.com/tashpo.html I've said on other threads that it's better to buy the deeply pigmented shades as they layer on very sheerly (buildable coverage).

Angie -- Thank you! I'll see if I stay on this side or move into the flared crops.

To you, Momo, and Bonnie -- IRL I've had several workmates / gym pals guess me taller by a few inches, but no one's ever "given" me an extra 6" inches, Angie! I *FEEL* like a tall person and am always shocked to see my head lower than seems right in group shots -- what?! Technically I'm ~ a faux 5'6.75 in all but #4.

I remember a YLF height thread where I was SO far off on many people. No matter the starting point I had some taller and some shorter (and I had company in that...).

I do aim for good posture -- I danced in high school (80s!) but have fallen into terrible habits over the years and so really work at it -- but other than that and lots of dressing tricks yes, (Bonnie!) the heels help. They for sure aren't *necessary* but they help. I'm sure Angie has some blog posts on the tricks, but if not I think stylist blogger Imogen Lamport does. I picked up most of mine pre-internet LOL.

Bonnie -- the jeans are ridiculously priced ones I got on discount after much hoopla price matching etc *but* my list of needs was long. They're the Citizens of Humanity High-Rise Rocket. For the last 8 years I've only worn plain dark washes (alert: most lengthening) so this is me being really crazy as they have fading here and there.

ps Momo sadly that's my bad photography in #2 -- the tunic is really a deep blue with taupe placket. But I love B&W too.

Hi YLFers, and especially Team Cuff --

Working from home/doctor's visit on a damp high-40s (F) day and taking a lunch break. Had the rare chance to snap a weekday photo so did!

Forgive terrible light; we're in grey mood a lot. Some better color representations of the tunics shown are in my earlier "uniform" thread.

*****

These are my nod to the "crop" jeans. They technically ARE crops but on 5'4 me they fall to the ankle. I have commitment issues with true crops (I'm not totally alone, see thread), so these were bought to wear long and shorter.

Also showing variations I tried when reviewing my sandal situation along with my returning (2-3 y.o.) sandals. Love of heels + lots of walking means I was an early adopter of the block and Cuban heel trend, go figure!

Envious of those of you who can sport sandals for more than 5 minutes! /grass, greener

Thanks for looking/sharing opinions!
