I liked the Wikipedia article- I didn’t realise it mainly started in the 80s in the UK. I actually bought a winter themed jumper (yes as a colony we call it a jumper) in Cheltenham in Gloucestershire in the UK in 1988 when living near there. It wasn’t specifically Christmas themed but probably influenced. I loved that thing and wore it for years. It had red, green, blue, pine trees etc. I might be able to find an old photo. While doing some holiday shopping I found a black sweater/jacket with an embellished pattern somehwat like a western shirt, so I went with that. It would have been perfect with dark wash bootcut jeans but I don’t own any, so I so wore black straight leg pants. Added brown pointy toe boots (western-ish), and dangly red berry cluster earrings.  I got compliments,  including one guy who said “that’s not ugly at all”. Of course I didn’t win one of the prizes for the various ugly sweater categories.    I also pulled out my old leopard print bag which I have not used in a few years. </p> <p>Overall the outfit was ok but not great, with  a slightly more slouchy/oversized look than I generally prefer. It's all good!  </p> <p>p.s. the photos of the sweater and the outfit are not the best but I was in a rush etc.  </p>
